I truly believe believe that our entire family deserves a medal of honor for the torture our Maytag SAV3655AWW has put us through over the past 4 years with leaky center seals, shot bearings, motor, pump, transmission, etc, etc. I have seen the machine totally disassembled by Maytag repair on at least 3 occasions while under service contract. Now I am doing it myself. I have a question for the brain trust that designed this thing.....is the tub designed to move slightly (like 3-4 inches)during the wash cycle? The brake doesn't hold like a Whirlpool! I was also the beneficiary of a Maytag Atlantis MAV6000AWW top loader that destroyed the center seal, bearings, and transmission. The SAV machine is great when it's working. I keep a spare Whirlpool in the garage just in case....

I too had an Amanatag.

Mine was an SAV515DEWW. The brake slipped, the tub indexed a little, the suspension made some godawful noises, and it really wasn't that great a performer. It had a huge capacity, but it was a piece of trash. I replaced it with my 1980 Maytag A208 and suddenly, life got a lot better. The 1980 is quieter, does a better job washing, and is more reliable! How is this progress when a new machine is put to shame so consistently and thoroughally by a machine 25 years older?

The attached youtube link is my Amanatag with slipping brakes.

Get rid of your Amanatag and go vintage, life is better vintage!

Maytag SAV 3655AWW

No sooner did I post the original message that our SAV3655AWW bit the dust.......the new transmission of 6 months ago is history...It was a happy day to haul this piece of junk to the curb as recommended by my colleagues. Two Maytag washers in seven years sets a new record. Maytag was a horrible corporation before Whirlpool swallowed them. None of their recent washer designs were worth keeping. This concludes a very bad experience. It's like a monkey off of our backs. Hauled the Whirlpool in from the garage.....It's working dandy!
