I am looking for a specific service manual from the 70s that goes for Maytag center dial washers. I've seen it before on the net- but I can't find it now.

I think this is the closest you're going to get, at least from the ephemera site's offerings. Per our knowledgeable webmaster, it should apply to the A806 for the most part.

I thought "Dependable Care" = orbital transmission, but it doesn't look like an orbital in the exploded view.

I bought a really nice old Maytag and it has run perfectly until a few days ago it too the elastic band out of a garment and now the water no longer drains . I’d love to find an old manual or at least know how to get the top off and how to get to the water pump !!! Thanks

how to get to the water pump
Front panel come off by removing the two bottom screws then lifting upward and outward like a car hood to unhook the two top clips.
To raise the top cover remove the two screws at front upper corners and again raise like a car hood. Note: Tape down the lid or it will slam into the console when raised.
