My mom had the same exact set bought in 1981. For the price it's a steal!

I had that washer. Wonderfully flexible. It would have been a perfect machine except for the 1.5 minute rinse.

Really interesting, Grant Park, Illinois is a very small town and I do mean small about 5 miles from where I grew up. This would be an easy pick-up for anyone in the Chicago/Indiana area.

Could be that they thought the very generous 1.5 minute spray rinse would compensate. For me, it didn't.

Even though I know these are great machines, I'll never forget the day I first saw these at Page's Hardware in Guilford CT, our local Maytag dealer. My heart sank. The change from the center-dial panels to me spelt the beginning of the end. Why, oh why do people always mess with perfection? I don't know about the rest of you, but I could easily imagine a front-loading 'tag(like an early Miele) with the same center-dial control panel that could blow the competition away. I think I'll create one!

The "Newton Drive" did o.k. But with the Orbital-Drive it could be an issue. That short rinse wasn't too bad on the "Large" water level setting or below. When set on "Extra Large" the clothes rarely even rolled over once, heavy items like towels hardly got un-peeled from the wash-basket.
