Those stainless steel bolts and washers --
Are they exactly like the ones Maytag used in later model wringer washers?
It looks like each washer has some sort of rubber pad to go against the tub, but is any water seal needed between the bolt heads and washers? Or are the pads there mainly to prevent a corrosive reaction between the steel and aluminum?

Wow, looks like it still has the cast aluminum agitator.
There should be external oil ports on that motor (looks original) so it's easy to service without completely disassembling it unlike the later motors.

I read that about 2am a few nights ago. I took alot of notes on my notepad and book marked the page. Amazing re build.

I actually have another machine just like this one.. serial numbers date them both coming out of the factory the same month/year. The other one is just in a little rougher shape. But it washes like a champ.

I went ahead and replaced the belt, triple checked, it is a legit replacement..
but it is too tight to run. Can the tension on these be adjusted? I have read til my eyeballs hurt and can't find the info I need.. or am just missing it somewhere.
obviously, I am not mechanically inclined, any advice is greatly appreciated.
