Is it my imagination or is one of the rollers missing on the wringer? (I wonder how hard it would be to replace, if that turns out to be the case.)

Top roller

The top roller is black and hard to see. The black top roller was softer than the bottom white roller on all the Maytag wringers.

Replace top roller

The top roller is simple to replace. You just remove the two screws holding the bearing bracket on.

That machine looks just like the wringer Maytag I have.mine has two light colored rollers.
