Thanks for all the info!
Next time I'm at that store I'll look closer at the bags. I think they are older, and have been there for a while, and as I say, there is a English translation sticker on all the bags, so I assume that they are legitimate, but I guess ya never know!

What made me think they were legitimate, was Laundress' s discription of the scent level of the original Ariel.
I've noticed that sometimes, scents that you think are going to be overwelling, end up rinsing away, and are almost gone after drying. Can only hope this is the case with these, if not, I sure wouldn't what to be close the the dryer vents of anyone who uses it LOL

Using Ariel or most of the italian detergents and softeners I get a wonderful smell coming out the dryer vent also, same level of scent strongness (normal to me), it's heaven to me when I go out and I can smell the dryer vents mine and of neighbors and or hanged laundry from the people under my apartment or above.
I like my laundry to smell good! More is perfumed better is! I hate when my laundry comes out the dryer with no scent or a little note on it that disappear soon... and it happends with some detergents that would not buy again.
My dryer vent is located on the balcony, next to me there is the neighbor balcony, in winter I have clouds of my steam and their steam litterally coming over my balcony, there is not a common pipe venting for dryers in my condo,.

Not a problem its just wonderful scented steam! Just few sour spinsters found only the sight of steam offensive and they have been sent to hell from the entire condo people for this silly problem, that problem actually isn't at all for all of us... rather someone enjoy it...
Whou would not love it? I never and say never been bothered of scents coming out the dryer vents or hanging laundry from my neighbors. As long as they don't use a detergent that stinks of garbage (non existent, of course)
The old lady living above me said that she loves the scents coming out my dryer vent and asked me several times which detergents I was using since she wanted to get the same scent for her laundry.
Some of them just came from too far to be purchased from her.... I remember she loved the scent of the Lever Persil and Skip and asked me what I was using in that period.
She said she can't get the same scent I get, I should feel proud of it, probably....don't know...
About overwelling scent level, probably for my canons, to make a silly example, would be the one I'd get using a bottle of perfume Cheap and Chic Olivia by Moschino ( that my aunt uses) used as softener in the rinse cycle...a scent I cannot really stand, too sweet and pungent, gives me nausea. Otherwise no scent including the one of Ariel both the pure powder from the scoop or washed laundry and so dryer vent is overwelling, at least for me, just a normal scent level.
I'm quite surprised some people would find Ariel too strong, for me it's just the norm.... and love it, smells so clean and fresh and resemble in a few notes the one of Gain, Italian Ace and Dash, all three smells that I love of course.
Anyway.....you may try to buy a small bag and then say if you like the scent of laundry, it changes in the washing,

I would never use one of those Free and clear stuff, a detergent should smell good!!!!
Over here free and clear stuff does not exist....nobody or just very few would buy them!
You're probably a type for the free and clear stuff....looks like some americans do like an unscented laundry, over here very few people would like unscented laundry, for most of people the more it smell, better is... I'm on this opinion too.
Points of view....

Anyway Stan, both the Ariel USA and Mexican Ariel smelled the same way....at least for me...no difference between the two I used....the scent level and scent was just the same...

I guess

It's just a personal preference.
To me if something has been washed and line dried in the sun...well, that is my favorite.
Don't think anyone had been able to capture that smell, and bottle it though. LOL

@KenmoreGuy, I absloutly love the scent of Ariel. Sadly, since I'm only using 1/4 cup (front loader), by the time everything is out of the dryer, the scent is long gone... Actually, the same happens with everything I use, Tide,All, Downy, Suavitel, even "Downy Unstoppables" can't leave a scent on our clothes :/

I think it's kinda weird, that some say Ariel USA is "discontinued", as it's carried at 5 Walmart's in my area, and restocked over, and over. And yes, I'd say the scent is wonderful, however, the detergent itself looks & preforms a lot like, "Tide Plus Bleach". I'd bet everything that P&G copied the formulation for the Americanized Ariel.

Now that I think about it.. I think Lowe's has it too.

I think it's just really annoying trying to call P&G from the US, and be told, "I can only give you product information for our American line of Ariel", I don't have any information on Ariel in Mexico, or Philliphines.

If only I could call them, up on the phone, and ask them to clarify what the ingrident "Water Softener" is in there product..

My guess is "Sodium Cit rate", a weak water softener made from Lemon Juice, or "Sodium Allumisilcate" = Zeolite, the other horrible water softener that doesn't rinse out well :(

These are those times, when you wish you would have learned more Spanish, when you were in School...

Do not know exactly the ingrefient as long as they state "water softener" now, regarding Ariel USA I purchased it once on Amazon and found no differenced from the Mexican bag of Ariel as I said....
I don't dislike other kinds of water softeners anyway or zeolite...
I may try to see if Via Skype the Toll free number of P&G Mexico works, some american toll free numbers works for free from Italy too via Skype, I just called the Dollar tree Toll free last day and others Gov. and toll free services in the past, if it is the same for Mexico I may try to call them and ask what is the "ablandador de agua" ingredient... I do manage quite well at speaking spanish...didn't think about it!
Don't promise anything, have to check if it's free to call, but guess the water softeners it's zeolite and or policarboxilates or a mixture of them plus maybe some sodium citrate also...
Otherwise it's an attempt to hide the "incriminated" ingredient, but if it's so I doubt they will tell me that if they will hear my italian pronunce at speaking spanish...
Anyway, I do think the "strange" different bags we are keeping seeing around, both the Ariel USA and the ones with listed STPP are left over from a huge stock...we will have to wait to get the truth...but at this point could be everything...

Tried to call both Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico offices.... can't call free from here like is for U.S 1-800 numbers, it's just 4,5 cents euros to call with Skype at a minute...
I may try to call in the next days, hope worth a response.

I just tried to call P&G USA 18008798433 toll free and it works for free from here just like I said US toll free does (offices closed today)....

But another idea, maybe not so fair and correct crossed my mind as long as I heard the message there is a line for first aid... 5136365117.
If they just does not want to say the ingredients we could try to call P&G USA or first aid line inscenating a doctor or that our pet swallowed some Ariel powder they should tell us a list or if it does contain phosphates? I mean in a situation of need like this they would tell us this? They sure knows that!

desperate times call for desperate measures....LOL
Maybe not so nice, but hey, want we to get the truth? It's our right then to know what we're purchasing!

Exactly. We are the Consumers purchasing there product(s) and we have the right, to know what we are bringing into our Homes.

If I knew, I could call them, without using Google Translate and getting laughed at.. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

No for now sorry, didn't manage to call yet, so many things going on, busy at work, works in the house, cat is sick and at the veterinary for a recovery (the baby got a bad allergy reaction to anesthetic during castration surgery, survived luckily, canot even think what I'd have done if it was not), I'm also sick (terrible toothache).
I hope I can do that tomorrow after dentist if I'm able to speak well after that, whatever he will do...
I'm also having spanish friends from Madrid visiting here now...just talking about spanish things...LOL
I'm a little busy in these days...
But we will get things as they're soon.

Mr. Capuzzo,

Thank you very much for your email and interest. As per your question, we do no longer sell Foca with phosphate. This decision, was due to the fact that most states in the USA issued a new law prohibiting phosphates in detergents. We needed to comply with this new regulation, so all our production now is done without phosphates.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,

Comentario : Hi, why don't you make anymore Foca with phosphates for USA market?
All the ones I can see around does not have them anymore.
Wish I could find some around still having them.
Do you still make it in the formula with phosphates?
If so where I can buy it in USA?
Thanks

Stocked up on 4 KG of Foca (with phosphate) Yesterday, plan on buying more & more.

Freddy, any updates from P&G? I was reading another site, a few days ago, and it looks as though P&G stopped printing Fosfato on there detergent bags, a few years ago, as they weren't required to, and they changed the name on the ingredient list to the more vague word "water softener".

I really do think, P&G would keep STPP as long as possible, as they did until federal legislation back in 1993 here. I don't believe they'd do it, voluntary..

Update...

I finally got my answer, and Ariel has 6-8% phosphorus in the form of Phosphates in there formulation.

Ariel Pods do not contain any Phosphates, and Ariel Liquido contains 3-4% STPP.

Oh.....damnit!

You know....I totally forgot about it!!!
Sorry....

You should have remembered me to call...I totally removed that from my mind...

That's funny...I was just organizing the many stashes (boxes) placed in the house (BTW I'm the only one that can loose detergents inside the house, I swear I had some more packages of mexican powders including Arcoiris apple scent and do not know where the hell they are now, if you believe please make a prayer to St Anthony for me) anyway, this was to make some space for the 25kg vintage detergents boxes I bought in lot recently....and found in the bottom of one box an old mexican Ariel oxyanillos package with phosphates, unfortunately the bag is old and is leaving blue color on my hand when I touch it..
The ingredient list is pretty unreadable.....
I also found a big Foca bag with phosphates in another stash in the kitchen...

Anyway.....the mexican Ariel Oxy azul I got recently still don't have phosphates listed..moreover, they're not even anymore the Oxyanillos kind but now are oxy micro esferas, (Oxy micro- spheres)...
But good to know they kept phosphates!

Speaking of Ariel USA:

I found though last week Ariel USA sold at walmart website...so my question is, they really stopped making Ariel USA or not?
Are these leftover bags?
I thought they stopped...

About Ariel USA...

I discovered that all it is, is the old un-concentrated Tide + Bleach formulation ;)

They didn't really stop production of it, Walmart is still receiving it from P&G at there distrubution centers, and there restocking it on the shelves (constantly) in my area.

The scent, is okay.. It's a little strong, and imo, not as nice as the Blue Bag of Ariel, but, it's the American Tide formulation that I thought I wouldn't find again. It cleans very well (in a top loader) but still, I don't think it comes close to the Phosphate Laden stuff from across the boarder ;)

I've seen...

Arcoiris at a Wal-Mart in my area, once, haven't been back to that store, but they carried it.

I was told by the P&G rep that the packaging was modified, to list (Water Softeners) instead of Phosphates due to requests from retailers & distributors . I guess they didn't want Consumers to know that Phosphates were still in the Product..

Anyhow, I feel better about my Ariel Stash ;)
