Jim, some of those places look like real-deal Eichlers. I didn't realize there were any of those in Sacramento.

That last photo looks like a later home, kind of like the 70's "Ponderosa" design (very common here in Silicon Valley) which still lends itself to the MCM lifestyle just fine.

Your 'hood resembles Citrus Heights where my partner's sister lives.

Wonderful pictures, I love mid century architecture. I am fascinated by some of the floor plans, especially the ones with the atriums.

There are tons of mid-century homes in my area. I'll try to get out and take some pics this weekend.

Jim, I think I've hung out in the Land Park area before but can't remember any distinguishing portion of it that would have brought me there.

I'm familiar with Midtown, and the Carmichael/Fair Oaks/Citrus Heights triangle. I guess Citrus Heights isn't the only area with a country feel to some of its neighborhoods, and the homes there may be a little older. I guess the 1973 bomb train derailment is CH's principal claim to fame. I can't believe they're still coming across live ones out there once in a while.

From what I can see inside the windows it looks really neat on the inside to. I really can not capture the inside with my camera. The kitchen looks ultra modern....

We have quite a few in my neighborhood. I'll try and get some pictures. The house next door was a fantastic example with a flat roof, cube style, but they had so much leakage problems they totally changed the house and put on a pitched roof and it no longer looks at all like it did back in the 50's thru 80's.

I like the pink house in picture #4. Too bad it has a hipped roof. Although hipped roofs were around then, I kind of have a sneaking suspicion that it's added on. It looks to me that the roof should be flat. But I understand how drainage problems and leaks do get on your nerves and sometimes you just need to do something about it.

Those are really wonderful photos. Having been born, raised and lived most of my life in the Bay Area I have been to Sacramento many times. When I look at your pics as well as many others posted on this site and see all the green and trees it makes me homesick. After 7 years of living in the desert you get very tired of palm trees, cactus as well as the 360 days of sunshine. Thanks again.

I was thinking South Land Park. Sacramento has some Fabulous
midcentury homes, that has always been one of my favorite
aspects of it. Have you ever cruised through Arden Park?

Here are a few more houses in my neighborhood. Pics aren't that great, I was driving as I took them.

First, a 98 year old lady still lives in this one. Inside just behind the glass to the left of the doors there is a 1 1/2' X 10' planter that was recessed into the slab when the house was built. The house was originally built by a cooking aficionado. The original appliances are still present (except the fridge), including a separate broiler unit mounted in the counter like a cook top, and two Nu-Tone stainless vent hoods.

Next, this house is for sale. The eves are rotting and there is still part of a tree on the roof from the hurricane (you'd think they would take it off since they are trying to sell). Glass brick windows to the right of the chimney. At Christmas, they used to put a red light behind the glass brick on the first floor and a green light on the second floor. looked pretty cool at night.

Third, the owners just finished painting and repairing some of the exterior on this house. This one reminds me of a house from a Bugs Bunny cartoon - the Opera singer's house when Bugs got into a little war with the singer.

You can see part of the roofline of the house next door (my camera was still processing the pic when I drove by it). It is a very nice example of Mid-Century Modern, the vaulted ceiling is nearly two stories high. Behind it is the ugly cube someone built two years ago.
