Miele dishwasher element....

So the heater element on my G572 is no longer energizing. I probably wouldn't have noticed, but the dishes were not consistently not coming out clean. I initially thought it was bad detergent. Wouldn't you know it, I just bought 20 boxes of Somat salt on sale! So...I'd like to fix it. Miele Canada says it has 3 in stock.

My question would be...could it be anything else? Are there any tests I could do?

How difficult is it to replace? Do I have to remove the dishwasher to do this repair?

Any thoughts or comments?

Not much to offer, but....

I ask that you please document your repair project with photos for us. I am preparing to make a Miele dishwasher purchase in the coming months and would be interested to see under the hood.

Hi Guy,

Disconnect the wires from the element and with an Ohm meter check the resistance of the element. Infinity means replace, High resistance means good.

Check the element and then go from there.

Hey malcolm, just some words of advice.
Make sure if you buy a Miele that you buy it from a store where you can return it if you're not completely satisfied with it.
When I was replacing my GE TallTub I bought a Miele as I had been wanting one for 18 years. The real reason I wanted one was only for the cutlery tray-I still think that is one of the greatest dishwasher inventions/improvements ever made.
But alas, I was sooooo disappointed with it.
I already had a top-of-the-line Bosch as well and so I thought I'd get the Miele instead of another Bosch.
Let me tell ya, first off, it was an absolute NIGHTMARE to load, couldn't get into it half of what I can in the Bosch, not as quiet as the Bosch, and cleaning wasn't quite as good as the Bosch.
It was gone after only two and a half months and I replaced it with another Bosch wich of course is just perfect.
Not sure what you're experience is with your Bosch, but after using many others over the years and finally getting that Miele, I will NEVER recommend one to another person.
As for laundry and vacuums though-it's clearly Miele all the way!!!

Funny as Miele dishwashers are usually rated as their best product, behind their vacuums...sorry you had a bad experience with yours...perhaps something was wrong as I can count on 1 finger the amount of people who were not happy with their Miele dishwasher...
