Here I am stuck indoors on hot and muggy day trying to get a bit of washing done, now my Miele is giving me fits.
First load went off as usual, no problems there; however when the second load began to drain wash water the machine gave off a loud buzzing sound. The noise almost like an alarm and comes seems to come from either the back or lower part of the washer.
Turning the unit off then on got rid of the sound, but as the machine drained first rinse water away sound came back.
Set the unit to "drain", and when that was done turned off and unplugged the washer. Manually drained out any remaining water using the little hose near the pump "filter", then removed the filter thinking perhaps something may be caught in the drain. Alas nothing was found but did notice mould growing around the rim of the filter and there was even a bit in back of the pump. Made mental note to self no more laundry "soap" (as in Fels, Sunlight, Savon de Marseille, etc), as the stuff can gunk things up.
Oh well, after cleaning out the pump and filter, plugged in and turned on the unit to see if the pump was working correctly, and it was as it better be as just paid good money to have a new one installed. There was no noise then, and even when I reset the washer to the final rinse it drained with no buzzing sound.
However tried another rinse and the darn sound came back, however it seems to come and go and not appear on all cycles.
Since MieleUSA is closed until Monday, have to wait til then for official information, but does anyone here have any ideas?
Drain hoses to the sink do not seem to be blocked as water leaves quite normally. Don't think it tis the motor brushes as that sort of sound would appear anytime the unit went into spinning, this sound only comes when the pump starts up.
Thoughts?
TIA
L.
