I made some more a couple of days ago using a packet of frozen puff pastry from the supermarket. When looking for the pastry I also saw they have sheets of strudel dough so I also tried that. In Hungary there is a popular strudel made with poppy seeds. I hate poppy seeds and I've not tried it so I don't really know what the strudel pastry should be like. Anyway, my mincemeat strudels were a disaster! I did watch a YouTube video about strudel making but I missed out what might be a vital task. The guy was brushing the paper thin dough with melted butter, possibly to make it more pliable. I think I must have rolled my strudels too loosely so the pastry was not kept moist by the filling. After baking you only have to touch them and the filo pastry falls to pieces.
