Well This morning I had some scubs that had faded and I wanted to re-dye them navy, so I decided I would go down to my grams and use one of her machines that she used to offer to her tenants.

Here it is, a lovely GE Filter-Flo coin op Commercial washer

Well, as one knows nothing ever goes smoothly.

Grandma closed down the laundry room for the tenants about 5 or 6 years ago and they go to the Laundramat across the street now. Well Grandma would still use the Filter-Flo from time to time for various tasks.

Today I decided I would use it to dye my scrubs in, I turned the water on, selected my water temp and stuck a screwdriver in the lid switch, The machine filled up properly and did not present any noticeable leaks, I added my salt and RIT dye to the water and later added my scrubs to be dyed.

That is where the progress came to a hault, once the machine finished filling it failed to agitate, the motor hums and after a few minutes of attempting to free the agitator it tripped the breaker. Unfortunatley after sitting dormant for nearly 2 years the motor is frozen, so I now have a washer full of blue water.

I'm wanting to think there is some hope of freeing the motor up again so I can continue using it, but I dont know what to do and dont want to get in over my head

You got a 220 volt outlet nearby? Just kiddin. I was thinking of defibing the motor like restarting a heart when it stops.

I wonder if the belt has rusted to either the pulley on the motor or the tranny.

Two years is a long time to sit without moving.

probably the motor got a little damp and had some rust between the rotor and the
stator-pull washer out and forcfully try to turn the bottom of the pump coupler
to "crack loose"the rust if the motor is indeed seized. If it cracks loose just
resume running the washer. If motor turns free, probably an electrical problem.
Pump could be seized too,but i have never seen that before with a FF.

Freeing the pump coupler.

This is what my FF did not too long ago. I took the back off and turned the washer on and thought that i would try and move the coupler with the machine on and this did work. I guess like cfz2882 said there may have been some dampness and a little amount of rust got in there...
