Peter

Can you post a link to the auction please.

I think you are absolutly correct in that this cooker was imported from Canada, I THINK it may be a similar type to the Frigidaire Flair which there are several thrads on at the moment and will of course be more familiar to us from Bewitched. By that I mean that there is a large eye level oven with a pull out hob.

The only reference I have seen to this previously is an ad which pops up on ebay from time to time, which has two (large and small) ovens but apparently with side opening doors - I thought it might have been based on a Tappen model but that was only conjecture.

Its hard to know if parts would be available - hotplates probably would be OK but it it needs oven elements that could be a much bigger problem.

Al

PS I have not forgotten about your meat probe, I have just put it somewhere for safe keeping and of course I have forgotten where

Hi Al,
As you know I am not much good with the copy paste thing, also pc has a virus and locks up.....soooo if somebody can help me copy the link, the item number is above.
I forgot to put which county on the add al!....I know I know and I'm not even blonde.
The stove is in cumbria, some 300 miles away..oh what to do

I think it depends on how much you like it and how much work you would be willing to put into it. It is quite possible that some elements are obsolete but it is not rocket science to find a roughly similar element in shape, size and wattage and drill new mounting holes etc. I sometimes did that just to save money, particularly for fan oven elements.

supersuds, thank you very much for that.

I have always been in love with the flairs. As you know stoves like that where never produced over here,I guess because most of us have tiny kitchens.
One or twice some imported stoves have turned up,but I have never seen anything like this here.So if I where ever to get a flair I would have to bring one in (can't imagine the transport cost!)
I have not had any reply from shipley yet (transport co)

Guess you are right about the burners, only thing I thought was that these burners are probably swivvel,if you replaced with normal burners it would not e possible to clean underneath

schvitzin

It really is amazing what 27 valium and a topic can do.
After schvitzin all night about shall I or shant I,I did,so wish me luck

What a topic

Looks like you were the winner Peter, congratulations. It will be very interesting to see more pictures - I REALLY hope you can get it sorted out OK. I would have been interested in it myself but Cumbria was just too far to go.

And as for the reference to a Topic, I believe this is what Peter was referring to - what used to advertised as "a hazelnut in every bite"

Congratulations Peter.
fine looking stove there!

Looks amazing! Im not sure how I like the hotplate arrangement on a pull out drawer - one thing that always does with the Flair's. I hope its quite a sturdy piece :)

the eye level oven will be a boon, Im really loving my eye level grill. No more stooping just to cook a few lamb chops.

If your collecting it remember Crewe is a convinient stop off point, and the coffee's not bad here either! LOL.
You'd be most welcome!

Rob

Topic

Well that's all one can do when in under stress, have a topic!
The place we have just bought has a kitchen the size of an ice cube so I will have to re-arrage a few cupboards and the fridge will have to go in the garage, oh what have I done!

Petek Thank-you

Rob-Thanks you very much for the kind invitation, I am not driving to collect it.I was going to hire a van and drive, but on reflection I decided by the time I rented and added fuel it was probably better to arrange transport, so that's what I have done.A nice shiply guy.I know what you mean about the eye level grill rob,The moffat I have now has this, and a rotisserie which I use all the time.So if you are in need of an electric eye level I may donate!...That'll keep you up all night!
Well I guess I have maybe a week to rip ut the new kitch and make space..we are going to have murders for a month probly..I'll just tweek his dinner with zolpiden and before he can dios mio (he's spanish) it will all be over.
When all is done we can do fanny and johny reruns in spanish, all invited too
Just need a keymatic and the I'm done,,,for now anywayhmmm 11.50, a perfect time to go know up a batch of chopped liver,,,it's not my fault, I'm old and got the munchies

Well it arrived

The moff arrived this morning.I must admit admit the surface looks a little rougher than i was expecting.
At the moment sitting in the lounge,so after a quick dust check time.

burner 1...bang
burner 2...bang
burner 3...bang
burner 4...bang......but....the light works!
Hmmm now what, well, disconnected the earth and they are all working. I am hoping all the pop pop was due to moisture as it is supposed to have been sitting in a garage in cumbria.
As soon as I can find my wellies, full test.pics tonight

Burners,some help needed

After faffing around all afternoon &#92i now have 3 out of 4 burners working.
The large front left keeps tripping.Does anybody know if the plug in burner units are still available in the uk?
The other thing is apart from a temp guard burner (front right) the other 3 seem to be infinate heat, are these the units that ususally give trouble?
The intructions say always use "start" until temp is reached, then select.
I must say it is very fast.

surface burners.

Hi all,some help needed.
The burners on this range are plug in.The large unit is 2125 watts, and the only available universal unit here is 1800 watt.I am fairly sure 3 burners have infinate heat switches, can I use a lower wattage replacement?
I wonder if any canadian members could put me in touch with a spares company that may have these plug in surface units. Are they common?
I love the look of the range and Have connected it to use.|I would love to to bring it upto full steam though.
The oven has a pre-heat which have never seen before and heats real fast.
The grill works, but there are 2 elements on the floor of the oven, one each side, one of these is bad also. But hey, given this stove is a 61 model it's not in bad condition.

Glad to hear that you got it safe and sound and reasonably intact.

Is the bad burner an 8" or 7"? Does it have a little spring loaded disk in the middle of the burner which touches the base of the pan. Although not that common here I know for certain they were used in the TOL English Electric Rapide Cookers (57 & 68) and possibly on the Electra cookers (these were about the only cookers I can remember that came in a range of colours) which were EE sourced.

I suspect that you will need both oven elements working to get an even oven heat.

Did I read it right that you have an instruction book for this?

Al

Can you take a good picture of the burner and the actual plug in part because there are at least 4 different variations, vertical spade shape, horizontal spade , wire hook ,and button shaped. Also a good picture of the oven elements.

Burners

Hey Al, The offending burner is 8" although it measures 7.5 across the top.
The RF unit has the spring thing, and this works fine.Yes Al,manual and wiring diagram!
The oven gets hot in minutes as the grill comes on at the same time as the bake elements, but having read the diagram I nearly had a stroke, the grill element is 3000 watts plus two bake elements in the bottom @ 900 watts each, nearly five kilowatts to bake! I currently pay about £150 per month for electricity,so if I don't use the range for cooking I should be fine!
Even though I have to spend a few shekles I am still pleased.
It also came with rotisserie rods, fab coz I use this a lot.Only thing missing, yep you guessed it,the probe,oh and clock doesn't work. But heated shelf at the back does, this will be a really useful bit of kit, save me draggin out me hostess!
As I said, the oven does function but way off temp wise,&#92i guess this being due to one of the bake elements being bad.Other stove still in the lounge as cant quite make up my mind which one of ems staying.

PeteK.. wll take pics tom,I had called a couple of companies here but the watts are different, mine requires 2125 watts and the universal is only 1800, and a tad smaller. So if you could help link me somewhere I would be oh so greatfull After getting nowhere here after 10 calls this morning I thought I was gonna end up turning it into a planter!
Anyways pete,I would be very greatfull for any info you can give,
Many thanks
pete

There's not too many appliance repair places left here in our little town but when you get me the pictures I'll go take a look. As well our Habitat Restore is closed at the moment and re opening sometime in the middle of April, they often have old coils removed from stoves no longer working for sale.

the whole thing

Can't get the screws out of the botton two bake elements,I guess I will just have to keep trying.
I think I should be able to get something here for the oven,it's the coils I think will be the problem

Panel light prob

Hello ALl,Deary me, I am having problems with this range.
Aside from all the other stuff, now the panel lights keeps blowing. This has also knocked out the rotisserie and the oven light.I found a compartment under the oven with one fuse.changed this but lights still dead.(also changed all bulbs)
Surely there wouldn't be a secondry fuse behind the panel?
Anybody any idea's
