OK, I did my abitual monday grocery shopping and got a pack of Finish tablet detergent as usual, I didn't notice the name change from "3-in-1" to "classic", the package was the same, all the details were what I'm used to since at least two year ago.

I did notice the difference only when I got home and put the box next to the old one on the cupboard under the sink.

Oh well I said, I picked up a different detergent!
NOPE! The ingredients are the same! Not a single bit is different!

One thing is different! They reduced the weight of the package!

32 tablets of the old packet were 672 grams,
32 tablets of the new packet are 597 grams!

That's quite a shirinkage, isn't it?
I hope it will clean as well as the old one since the price didn't shrink at all!

Ah, btw, I called R&B and they told me that there is no change and that the tablet will clean as well as the old ones, there is no need to change my habits and if my water is hard I should add (Finish of course) salt and drying agent to each wash for optimal results...

Oh yeah----paying more for less. I'm sure whomever you spoke to did not wish to discuss that little matter.
Good old marketing wizardry. I find every visit to the grocery store is a "shell-game".

I just use the regular box of Finnish granuales, 3.2% phosphrous, and plenty of chlorine bleach. My box has the same manufacturer as yours but claims to be "made in USA".
It is a good product----cleans well.

chlorine bleach

Hi Gyrafoam, here in Italy c.b DW detergents are almost disappeared. Only Finish gel formula still has c.b.
I use it in summertime when I forget having the range, have cold meals only, no pots and pans to wash and it takes 4 days to have a full load

Ok they aren't so "green" as the oxy bleach ones, but they work better with tomato & carrot discolouration

Gabriele I use currently mc bride dexal that is sold (2.50 € - 3kg ) at eurospin stores. It works well also on short 40°C (26 minutes) of my AEG F6071.
Anyway I hate tablets cause I've to crash them in two parts when doing half loads

A difference of 75 g. but I notice the actual box looks smaller which would account for some of that weight.. Can you weigh a tablet from each box and see if they are the same weight

Uhhh... I weighted the tablets (5 of the old ones and all the new ones), they seem to be one to three grams less but I feel my scale isn't precise enough! The box is a centimetre less thick than the old one, but I don't think that will add much less weight! Actually, the scale read the same for both! Ahh, the new tablets are 18-19 grams each while the old ones are all 20-21 grams.

> FAVORIT: I didn't try the Eurospin powder simply because I don't have any near me. Other than Finish I tried Pril that is pure sh*t and Fairy that smells awful and the gel capsules break only looking at them, at least they cleaned... and let's not talk Svelto tabs, I had to wash everything at 70°C intensive or scrub by hand, simply useless!
Other than these name brands I tried Carrefour powder (5,99€ per 3 kg) and it is amazing! It is virtually odourless and cleans like nothing else, plus I can dose it. Second come Finish tablet, 3-in-1 or (I hope) classic.

Clorine bleach: it happend a few times that the plastic of the cutlery basket and detergent dispenser became pink because of tomato (I don't eat tomato but my flatates do) and that disgusts me, I simply ran the machine empty but with a small glass of bleach on a rinse cicle and after that re-rinsed to remove the smell. Fast, easy, effective!

Call me behind the times, but I just recently heard an ad that "Finish" is the old "Electrosol". I liked the old name, it sounded more serious and sophisticated...even technologically advanced if you will. "Finish" just sounds too simple and unsophisticated...too quick. "Electrosol" sounds like the company engineered a complex, sophisticated product specially made for my automatic dishwasher, and that does a serious, good job. Quite the opposite feeling "Finish" gives me! I miss the "Jetsons" advertisements too. The name "Electrosol" lent itself well to the futuristic "Jetsons" feel!

Looks like here they changed the weight, but did they change the formula when they changed the name?
