Hi guys does anyone know who made the washers for them? My mom had a nice one she got just before I was born,( Norge I think )and it was great. She then replaced this one with a gold one that was kinda small and was sometime around 1978. I remember it had a lock on lid when it spinned and buzzed when one pulled on lid. thanks Chazz

Thanks Fixerman I was thinking Westinghouse for the later ones. That washer was great I think I still have the book for it and the fabric softner dispenser.

Montgomery Wards Washers:

I can answer this question. Both companies made washers for Montgomery Wards. Norge was the main builder of most of them but Westinghouse also did some models only about 3top loaders and one set of front loader in the stack pack as they were called but you did not have to have them stacked you could have them under a counter or free standing. How I know this is as I used to work for Montgomery Wards. Also Westinghouse later White-Westinghouse also made a small compact portable automatic washer for Wards.

Apex made top-loading washers for MW in the 50's, Westinghouse made the front-loaders. After Apex was out of business, Norge made the top-loaders. Norge continued to build the MW/Signature line and they added Westinghouse/WCI to the line up in the early to mid 70's. I have several catalogs from the 60's and
70's, should do some scanning. I had this page in my yahoo album from 1978...
