Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I seem to be picking 'foam-type' cakes for these test-drives for some reason...  This week's recipe is a chocolate jelly roll.

I followed the recipe to the letter (which is not something I do... LOL) and started by whipping the whole eggs in the small bowl of the Sunbeam.

And they whipped up nicely!

I was pleased to see that this mix er's speed control is still perfect - you can actually hear the change in motor pitch through 11 of the 12 speeds!

Now the recipe instructed to transfer the eggs to a large bowl (it didn't specify pink... LOL).

I added the sugar gradually.

I missed a couple of steps here... Water and vanilla are beaten into the egg-sugar mixture, then the sifted flour and cocoa mixture are blended in.   I used the mixer to fold in the flour, which I usually do when I use one of the Sunbeams for a sponge-type cake.

I used the orange filling as suggested in the recipe and put a coat of chocolate icing on it.  It turned out wonderfully and Hubby hardly noticed when I told him about the next mid-West things that will soon be joining the collection...
