That dryer can be no older than summer/fall of 1986 and the washer could be about the same age or +/- in years.

If the dryer were a Kenmore, wouldn't it have the lint filter on the top of the machine? I don't see one up there.

This dryer appears to be the 27" model, like the newer Whirlpool I have, that has the filter in the front of the drum. It's only the 29" models that have the filter accessed from the top.
