While we on the gay subject, has anyone seen the movie "Milk" with Sean Penn. I didn't get to watch it on the big screen but did see it yesterday on Pay Preview. Sean did a excellent job in capturing the essence of "Milk" This brings back a lots of memories when Harvey Milk was killed, including the riots and marches in San Francisco.

Caught it at the multiplex and it was a really good movie. Kudos to Sean Penn for bringing this back to the public's attention.

One of the better moviedocs I've seen in recent years. Sean Penn's portrayal of Harvey Milk was indeed Oscar-worthy, although I thought the movie really came to life after the first 30 minutes or so. Still worthwhile viewing--and a great history lesson for today's LGBT generation.

I read about Harvey Milk many years ago and bought the movie when it came out on DVD, making a special trip to WalMart for it, as I did for Brokeback Mountain.

I agree, the beginning was slow but it got better. One of the best performances I've ever seen by Sean Penn.

MILK......

Fantastic movie...!!

Harvey Milk had alot of guts, and I am proud to say I am personal friends with his nephew Stuart, who is also openly gay, and living in Ft Lauderdale. Stuart is proudly carrying on his Uncle Harvey's legacy. He has been traveling the country promoting MILK, and most recently, he attended a dedication with Speaker Pelosi of a park in San Francisco in his uncle's memory.

Interesting tidbit about Harvey Milk most people don't know. He was a Republican initially, and later aligned himself with the Democratic Party because of San Francisco' s liberal leanings. He knew he could never be elected to higher office in San Francisco as a registered Republican.
Up until Harvey's murder, he still had many Republican views, mainly fiscal conservatism and he believed in keeping government OUT of people's pocketbook and personal lives.

Harvey Milk is our Martin Luther King Jr, No doubt!
