MVWP575GW Issue

This "commercial grade" washer is less than a year old, but we only started using it in the beginning of February '23. We decided to go with this washer for the "upgraded" materials to last longer. It hasn't even been used for more than 30 days before it started having this issue.

Started squeaking and making a rough noise. Self diagnostic goes fine and it seems to do well until the machine has been running for a few minutes. Not sure if it is actuator or transmission related.

Before unhooking it and flipping it over to dig into it, I thought I'd share a couple videos here and get your thoughts. Whirlpool can't send anyone to our rural area for repair so are asking me to send a list of parts for them to send for replacement.

Maytag scam

Sounds like Maytag is a big scam with their so-called "commercial-grade" parts.

Could be the transmission pulley bolt loosened and the pulley dropped down and is rubbing on the belt guard, and also slipping on the drive shaft splines.  Check and deal with it quickly to avoid escalated damage.  The fix could be simple as tighting the nut, and put some blue (non-permanent) Loc-Tite on the threads.  Worst case you'd need a new pulley kit (use the Loc-Tite on it) and belt guard.

Or maybe the problem is something else.

how far away do you have to be that they won't come service it?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go ahead and look into that theory tomorrow and let you know.

I'm not sure about the distance. We are an hour from KC. Whirlpool tried locating someone to send and wasn't successful so they gave me an email address to request parts to be sent free of charge. They may just be sending a new machine one part at a time

You were exactly right! I knew as some as I flipped it over and saw the belt and pulley eating through the guard. The pulley was very loose and the nut came off by hand.

Now just have to clean everything up and get a list of parts sent off to Whirlpool.

Thanks for the heads up before digging into it!

If I would've just taken the time to unhook it and flip it over sooner it would've been obvious and parts would've already been on they way (depending on lead times).

Whirlpool seems to have more problems with pulleys and even rotors coming loose than anyone else, and most of the time the screws and nuts have loctite on them from the factory.
