It does look like Electrolux are going to do away with the brands that they acquired.
AEG's mostly a heavy electrical / industrial brand and has always really only been a niche market high end brand, at least outside Germany.
Zanussi appears to mostly have a strong foothold in Italy, the UK and Ireland. I haven't seen many Zanussi branded machines elsewhere, although I could be wrong.
So, I assume Electrolux is trying to tidy up the branding to create one master brand for their appliances in Europe.
The AEG brand will go on in heavy industry, the electrical industry, etc , it just won't be on domestic appliances anymore.
