It does look like Electrolux are going to do away with the brands that they acquired.

AEG's mostly a heavy electrical / industrial brand and has always really only been a niche market high end brand, at least outside Germany.

Zanussi appears to mostly have a strong foothold in Italy, the UK and Ireland. I haven't seen many Zanussi branded machines elsewhere, although I could be wrong.

So, I assume Electrolux is trying to tidy up the branding to create one master brand for their appliances in Europe.

The AEG brand will go on in heavy industry, the electrical industry, etc , it just won't be on domestic appliances anymore.

mrx. I agree it seem that the machines are slowly becoming Electroluxes and the name AEG and Zanussi will soon disappear. I did not like the incorporation of the Electolux name into making AEG-ELECTROLUX and ZANUSSI-ELECTROLUX etc etc. The machine are quite similar, the AEG name no longer has the same premium to it and they no longer make AEG's in Germany now which is a shame really.

As one mentioned the true AEG disappeared years ago, the knobs on the left hand side etc. The parts are just universal now to fit across the brands. Makes financial sense I guess.

I will buy a Miele next time I think.

Detergent dispenser

I cleaned the Detergent dispenser today. I could not beleive the amound of rubbish that came out. Loads of black mould, detergent residue.

I also cleaned the rubber seal which had accumulated loads of detergent and grime.

Its amazing when you forget to do the essential maintenance, things build up!
