Hi I've had my AEG Lavamat 72640 for 5 years. I think its a good machine but I find that sometimes it has a balancing problem.

I find that my AEG is not very good at balancing the load despite the load the machine spins! I once had a dressing gown in the machine and the machine was not balanced and the machine went into spin and the drum hit the glass door and marked it with a gash. This glass was replaced but this again happened 5 years later.

The machine cleans brilliantly and rinses well with its Spin Rinse system which spins the load when rinsing.

The brochure stated that the machine has Fuzzy Logic. I don't know if it has this as the machine shares many components with Zanussi machines and I don't think the machine is that 'intelligent' lol The only thing is that when it rinses if there a little load then the machine takes longer, if the load is full the machine takes less time to rinse and does its spin rinses 3 times.

Anyone got any experiences with this machine also does anyone know about the Fuzzy Logic and does this machine have this interface? Any expereinces with poor balancing AEG's Zannussi's Electroluxes?

I Have!

Yeah your right there, AEG'S do share some simular parts to Zanussi's but AEG's are generally built to a much better standard!
I used to have a Zanussi not so long ago which only lasted 14months! Balancing was a huge issue on that machine among a very long list of others! Check out the video below, that was it on a good day LOL!

Hope this helps!

Whao Richard that is bad. I sometimes wonder thou if my AEG would end up like that as it sometimes brings up a right racket thump when going into spin. I have seen the suspenion legs which I found out are shared with Hoover Candy machines. I have posted a pic below of this. I thought the AEG would have had a better standard of one.

Apart from that a good machine though.

ohh I see what you mean! I find that pic very intresting, I to thought AEG'S were better than this! :S My Zanussi had metal suspension legs not that it did mine any good as you can probably tell LOL!
If yours has lasted 5years im sure it'll go on for a while yet! I cant seem to get a machine to last over a year LOL!

Well we've decided that if it goes wrong we'll buy a Miele. Its funny cos the AEG engineer advised on Miele instead of another AEG.

AEG03

I had a 1998 model AEG 1600. It must have been one of the last genuine models because:

(1) it had the control knob on the left, dispenser drawer on the right;

(2) the water jet that sprayed onto the clothes had four separate streams.

I noticed that the fuzzy logic function seemed to bypass one of the three standard rinses if it was a small, not too soapy load.

It was a very poor balancer when spinning; no two loads ever span the same. Sometimes quite stable, most of the time rattled and roared.

Rolls Rapade. Bacicallyt it seems my machine is just an Electrolux with just the AEG badge on it. Now they do AEG Electrolux, soon the name will be phased out to be just Electrolux one day I think.

You have the same machine as my parents! Before i moved out i had 4years of trouble free service from it, it's a good machine, abit too eco tho, From when they decided to do extremely low water consumptions etc. which aeg still do!

However saying that the synthetics/delicates progs do use a nice amount of water! I do like the spin rinse very much! The machine is on a tiled floor and generally balances very well, however now and again it does do a vintage style dance! lol.

It nearly died a death when my mum washed my brothers feather pillow in it and it exploded inside the machine, now all is right again and it works fine!

There are some videos on my profile, i shall re-upload the spin rinse video, i took it off cause someone stole the video!

Hey,

my washer also had balancing problems when warranty was ending.
So we called an AEG repairman which checked the washer but didn´t repair it. Can you imagine a washer ramping up to 1800 rpm with an unbalanced load? Well, my washer did this and the end of the song (Germans love to say that) was that now my washer has a drum bearing failure just because the repairman was too lazy repairing the machine.
Well, I´ll use the washer till the drum does not move any farer than one inch and then I´m looking forward to get a Miele or I´ll let it repair (changing outer washtub).
The balancing problems are over now and the machine spins smooth, I hope that it´ll never have balancing problems again because my dryer would drop down :S
In old times, AEG used to produce terrific machines in good quality, but that´s over! Nowaday, AEG machines will not last any longer than 5-7 years!

Darren,

is the pressure of the Jet-System always that low or does the pressure come stronger after a while!?
On my AEG the pressure is stronger but in the final rinse it can take up to 5 min till the pressure is strong. Sometimes it´s only drippling cos there´s air in the pump.

This used to happen on my Zanussi Jetsystem 2006 model to, however when the pressure went low it was because there was actually no water left in the machine to pump out of it! But mine was so faulty because it wouldnt add extra water if it needed it, but im guessing the AEG's do, their so much better!

newwave1. I like the low water levels in my AEG, there is no need for the machine to use a huge amount of water to achieve a good result particularly as the AEG 72640 has a water jet in it to wash and rinse the load.

Lavamat78800. Its unbelievale that AEG has products which do not balace properly. You mentioned yours was like this towards the end of the warranty. Mine was like this from day one. I had a lot of problems washing a an adult dressing gown in a full load of bedding towels etc because the machine would try and balance and then give up and spin anyway which is why we called out an engineer, he was saying that it is becuase the outlet pipe was blocked, I disagreed as this has nothing to do with it. The second engineer has the machine apart to inspect, again could not find a fault.

I stopped washing this big towelled gown in the machine and it has been fine for the past 5 years with the exception of the test I carried out with a few towels stuffed in a pillow case, the result the drum hits the glass door marking it again.

Its a shame cos its a good machine which is very reliable for me so far anyway. Sorry to hear about the problems with your machine.

Samsungfl, The jet in my machine seems to get low sometimes where it is just dribbling water, it varies, I guess cos the machine uses such a small amount of water this happens but the rinse results are never compromised.

Well, my washer never had problems with balancing until towards the end of warranty.
In opposite! A day, I washed some small pillows and my washer wouldn´t start to spin for almost 25 minutes and then giving me an error on the display! Final result: drippling wet pillows! mhhh..
But AEG does NOT only hvae problems with washers, NO, before christmas I had to replace my only 5 year old AEG dishwasher...but hey, I´m so much more pleased with my new Bosch!

AEG03,
I like water to be used but not excessively. sometimes u cant compensate water!

I think if u can see the water in the seal then thats a good level.

In the vid the pressure dropped because their wasnt much water in the machine, it doesnt have this problem when it uses a decent amount of water!

Friday night.... Monday morning machine??

Although I have loved my AEG Washer dryer (3 years old)... I have hated my Zanussi 5350W condensor dryer. 2.5 years old. I have had no problems with the AEG but endless with the Zanussi (a brand I always admired and thought there would be a similar standard of manufacturer...). I was told that there will be some machines, despite the brand etc, that will not hold up to the reputataion. I suppose thats life. Possible move on to Miele for me?
I don't know!

Overdose Detergent

The Overdose feature on my model seems to be inaccurate. This only works with the amount of foam in the drum. The only time it works is when there is a 'normal' amount of detergent loaded into the machine without clothes this comes on because there is quite a bit of foam produced but when the machine is fully loaded and excess detergent loaded this does not come on.

Also notice that the machine does nothing when foam is over the top in the machine like some machines on the market which varies the drim rhythm or adds more water the AEG Lavamat 17226 does not do this so Not so Intelligent Fuzzy logic lol

Gash on door where drum has hit the glass door during an unbalanced spin.

When this happens there is a terrible noise from the kitchen lol.
