My brother wanted to change his 2013 Whirlpool WTW4800XQ4 washer, which he put aftermarket rods in that quickly failed. It also had loud bearings. He has decided to replace it instead of repair. I mean, replacing both suspension rods and a Gearcase is expensive, so it makes sense that he bought new.

I told him not to get a Samsung, but he did anyways. I came over today and found a Samsung top loader. I’ll see how long that Samsung lasts. His old washer has been replaced.

Good luck with that ******* washer!

Well to be fair we only hear about the bad... rarely the good. So there are probably a lot of Samsung's out there going for years with no issues.
The brand name..... Samsung..... is one that I've had Plenty of experience with over the decades.
being a service techician for home entertainment equipment, that brand was the most frequent one that came through our shop door...
Tv's, VCR's, CD/stereo, you name it!
And any of my communication with Samsung customer service and tech help was annoying and frustrating.
And last year my neighbor's 4-year-old Samsung washer and dryer were both deemed not worth repairing by a service tech who came to their house.
Add in the reports of their washing machines exploding...!

So.... This creates a negative "reputation" of course in anyone's minds.
How can it not?
And "I'm being Fair" when I rant about that lousy brand.
I KNOW what I've seen, and I've seen enough of it.
