A few months ago while shopping in my local Target store,I noticed they had a double dvd set of classic U.S. commercials,so I bought it and it is great.
It has tobacco commercials, soft drinks, potato chips, coffee and all sorts of things, and YES! also classic soap powder ads it has the Tide one which Mattywashboy has put on another thread it has one for All temperature Cheer,Biz pre-wash soaker,Gain powder,Duz for large washers and anotherone which eludes me at the moment it also has Top Job for floors,Mr. Clean, and several for Comet powder with a lady called Josephine I think her name was.
The cigarette and tobacco ads were curious is tobacco advertising still legal in the U.S.A. it is pretty much banned here in Oz.
The best part was it obnly cost me about $15.00 Aus.
Cheers.

did the DVD collection you bought show the Westinghouse commercial that shows the comparision between the Top load washers and the Westinghouse "Laundramat" washer-the demonstration was to show how well the Westy machine rinses and flushes away sand from towels and the other machines could not.Got what sound like a similar DVD set here from Best Buy.And the above Westy "informercai" was long-showed Betty Furness. And another thing the TL washers were masked so you couldn't easily tell what brands there were-Beleive thay Had A GE Filter-Flo and a Norge in the program.

Yes it was!!

Hello Tolivac,
Yes the ad you refer to is called studio one and it shows a lady I guess it is this Mrs. Furness you refer to with a Westinghouse F.L. and 3 masked T.L.'s with three other ladies testing them to ge the sand out and guess what only the Westinghouse Laundromat got it all out.
There is also another ad for a Westinghouse fridge but the door gets stuck and the lady is terribly shocked.
Cheers.

Yes,I liked that DVD set of older TV spots-reminds me of the shows when I was a kid.Somewhere at home I have a VHS tape collection of toy commercials--its a gas-esp the old "slinky" commercial. The tape has ads from the 50's and 60's.And all of the ads for the spaceship toys and toy guns!! was kinda neat. And of course games--"Mystery date" comes to minds.-and for the girls--Barbie.And "Mr. Machine"!!.I am anxously awaiting for when this comes out on DVD.

Mr Machine !!!

I got a Mr Machine for Christmas when I was a little kid. I guess I was already mad keen on mechanical things as by Boxing day it was completely pulled apart. Never did get it put back together...

Oh, my...

I have probably hundreds of hours of old commercials. Mostly '50s/'60s. I'm in the process of transferring them from VHS to DVD.

Ask me who the vice president is, I'd have to stop and think. Ask me to sing the Buster Brown song, it's readily available:

Does your shoe have a boy inside...?

Tolivac's set or mine?

Hi Jasonl,
I am not sure if you want the name of Tolivac's commercial set or mine, however if it is mine it is called "T.V. Favourites,Classic Commercials". and it has over 200 classic commercials on it.
Hope this helps you.
Regards.
Steve.
