My First Frigidaire Functions!

So after the "unscheduled maintenance" transmission oil change and despite temperatures hovering in the low 40's in Ogden on the weekend, I was out in the garage playing with the WDAC63 washer.
The oil change left the cabinet really nasty and greasy - I gave it a good clean and much to my delight I found that the side that I feared was rusted was just good and cruddy!
Here's how the machine looked as I got ready to test it.

As requested! Here is the water temperature settings. The knobs remind me of the controls from the 55 Frigidaire range my folks had when I was a brat.
Interesting to note that a cold wash and rinse option were available on this model - I recall the 62 GE V12 that we also had back in the 60's and 70's had only warm or hot wash options and the rinse was warm by default (it was a BOL model).

Timer/Water level control

I had never seen this before - the water level selection as part of the cycle selector. Neat that I have a soak option - that will come in handy after getting my work clothes all greasy on my next restoration, no doubt!!

Now tTHAT'S agitation!

I only remember seeing a classic Frigidaire washer in action in a laundromat in Wildwood, NJ when I was like, 10...
I am totally in awe of how the water moves around with a pulsator!
Damn that safety switch...
And I guess the oil change worked - it ran very smoothly and surprisingly quietly for a 46-year-old machine!
The next challenge is getting it into the house... Hubby says no, but...

Hi Paul. I remember that laundromat in Wildwood, NJ. Since I lived in NJ most of my life, and we went to Wildwood quite often. I cannot remember exactly where it was, but the also had another laundormat with Speed Queen washers.

This is the simpliest version of a timed fill timer, similar to a speed queen though. Frigidaires with actual water level knobs caused the timer to change increment speed--faster for small load and the usual time increment movements for normal size loads. Those machines alloweed you to select soil level in advance prior to fill. This machine, ou have to manually advance timer if you want anything shorter than heavy soil. But with a Frigidaire, although heavy soil isn't needed since it washes so well for average laundry, you lopse some pulsating time with lighter soil levels. thus, killing the fun.

Paul, this is a truely beautiful machine and definitely seems to be relatively "low-mileage". There is nothing like a solid-tub Frigidaire for washing & rinsing.
