Hello everybody,
My dad and I were looking at dishwashers. I wanted the Maytag, but we decided to save some money and buy the Kenmore 13222 dishwasher with the power wave arm.
First of all, the power wave arm doesn't look like the total coverage spray arm. It looks like a standard arm. Second, I wish it had the food grinder on it like the older ones did. I'll post the link. When we get it installed, I'll do a load test on it.
What can you tell me about this model?

I have the whirlpool sister machine, except mine has "Target Clean" or "Turbo Zone". The Power Wave wash arm is the same as the total coverage wash arm. I have been super pleased with mine. It cleans great!!! You made a good choice.

My friend's parents have this model in black and they really like it. It's amazingly quiet, I couldn't even tell it was running.

just installed

My dad just installed the dishwasher. I haven't done an actual load of dishes in it yet. I think he's gonna do some water filters in the machine. Does this dishwasher have a timer display? What is the operation sequence for each cycle? I.E. Normal Wash.

it will "sense" the water to see what it has to do to get the load clean. When I use Normal cycle, I will usually get main wash, rinse, rinse, dry. It has done main wash, purge, and final rinse. I have also got it to do prewash, main wash, purge and final rinse. It all depends on what the soil on the dishes are and the temp of the water coming into the dishwasher.

dishwasher's options, operation and status

Does this dishwasher have a time remaining display? What if I select high temp wash on the normal cycle? That is wat I normally use, along with heated dry.
What was the purpose of the alternation of the spray arms? What's the engineering behind it as well as the filtration system? I plan on using the Cascade Platinum detergent and rainse aid sample that came with it. I hope it is better than the stupid piece of crap Frigidaire that I am replacing. When it did work, it did clean.
When you first hit start right after you just installed it, what cycle and options will be shown?

first run

I ran the dishwasher through a rinse cycle after my dad filled the rinse aid dispenser. I couldn't believe how quiet it was. After I eat breakfast, I'm going to put my first dish in the machine. Of course, it's just a plate, fork, and coffee mug that I drink coffee out of. I typically have blueberry pancakes and turkey sausage patties. I'm sure there's gonna be a full load to run by tomorrow night or Tuesday morning depending on how fast a load is accumulated. I'm sure it will sound different depending on which load you have in there. I hate washing dishes by hand, so I'm not gonna complain. I'm gonna put the Kenmore through its paces!

more differences

I noticed more differences between this machine versus others. First, the middle spray arm has a faster rhythm when spraying water everywhere when alternating spray arms. I also noticed that the dispensers are different. First, the detergent dispenser slides open and shut as opposed to flipping open and shut. Second, the rinse aid dispenser is different as well. Instead of a twist to open and close cap, it has a cap which you can flip open, pour your rinse aid into the dispenser, then close it shut. As for the prewash dispenser for the detergent, it is built on top of the dispenser slide door. I have never seen it in an American made dishwasher. If so, I've seen it in Maytag models, but haven't given them too much thought.
I actually put dirty dishes in it this morning as I was making my breakfast. I am intrigued. It also reminds me of the high end foreign made dishwashers with the usual American twist I.E. heated dry the more I think about it. I can also adjust the racks let's say if I had taller coffee mugs.
The slotted silverware basket is nice, because I will have less of a chance of silverware, such as the forks, spoons, and knives and the like, nesting together. The middle section is open without them, so that I can put the usual suspects such as serving utensils and large kitchen knives in that section. It will be interesting to observe the operation sounds it will make. I'll have to figure out how to load the dirty plates in. I like to put the dirty side facing inward so the water jets have a better chance of hitting those areas. I like to load from right to left and vice versa depending on how the racks are set up with the dirty sides where your food is served and eaten off of, facing the center.
I can't wait to put it through its paces!

first real load

I am running my first real load of dishes. It is just everyday tableware, along with pitchers and plastic ware. I am using normal, high temp wash and heated dry.
