I love the appliances from the Uk as I have a lot of there vacuum cleaners and have always wanted a dyson to add to my collection. I finally used a Dyson Upright about 6 months ago and Boy I didn't even know how to operate it but after figuring it out I really was impressed. So I said I wanted a Uk Dyson in my collection so I got this Dyson DC02 De stilj model and Am Going to add the DC04 De stilj model so I will have both the Canister and the upright

This is a above picture of the Dyson

this is the picture of the top of it. I'm really impressed with it as this vacuum was produced in 1996 and was well cared for all the stickers are still well intact on it

Gary

The washer is a Maytag performa and the dryer is a Whirlpool gas dryer I bought them 2 years ago from Lowes. I had a Maytag Neptune washer and Dryer bought brand new in 1997 from Conn's and I think the washer was a lemon from the get go as it was always having to get repaired. Thank God I had an extended warrenty on it but when the warrenty ran out I didn't renew it as the washer was probably more in the shop then at home and was tired of fighting with conn's about it. My regret is that when they both finally went out a month apart that I didn't buy the Fisher-paykel washer and dryer as My older sister has the set and they do an awsome job for sure. The maytag and Whirlpool do an awsome job as far as I can tell but i just love that fisher-paykel set better

I have the original Neptunes from 1997. Only had one problem with the washer....Had to replace the board and wax motor.....of course way past the recall. But I still love those machines. Just wish it had a window...yeah..who else sits and watches their washer????????
Just the nuts here at AW.org~!

Gary

I really loved that set but I guess there a lemon in some as was in the case of my set as I have a friend who has the identical set bought a couple of months apart and has no problemsd what-so-ever with his at all.

Austin

Thanks Austin Yes I was quite suprised at all the power it has.
The seller is sending me a dyson turbo brush for it and so I was curious anbd my Bosch turbo brush fit it and I was amazed at the suction that it has with the turbo and boy does it do a job for sure. By the way Is Your New Dyson going to be in in time for You to bring it to Tuscon I sure hope so.

Hopefully the first batch of DC21 Stowaway canisters will arrive at Tom's store on Tuesday, so I can order one and have it shipped off to Roger's house in Arizona that same day. Since it days 3 days to go from Festus to Tucson, it would get there Friday, when I arrive. That would be AWESOME to show it off 3 months before the official release! Tom did say the Motorhead uses the same rug nozzle and brushroll as the DC17, so it must be one hell of a cleaner. I can't wait!

Austin

Well my fingers are crossed that everything works out and it will get to Rogers on time will be something rather unique to show off at the wash in. after You get it let me know what You think of it.

Dyson Destijl

Hey Skip

Nice addition(as much as I hate Dysons...)

There are actually 3 Destijl models- The DC01, DC02 and DC04. I have a MIB DC01 that has been used maybe a dozen or so times in Mums attic- one of my Collectables of the future lol!!

Dont forget to take Seamus up on the offer, your gonna need it....just been roadtesting the New DC18 slimline upright, now this is the first Dyson that really does take my fancy, Tall, Lightweight and looks far more sophisticated than anything previous....

Gotta love those Dyson colours though, almost like Hoover for the variables!!!!

Happy vaccing Mike

p.s. with all those marvelous machines in Arizona such as the Thor, Bendix & Maytags & Blackstones we might have to wait until Austin gets back for the roadtest!!!sorry I cant be there.....

Seamus and Mike

Thanks so much but I really fancy this Dyson for some reason for sure it does outdo any fantom lightening for sure. Yes I was saying earlier I will definately add the de stilj dc04 as i rather that style upright better then the dc01. I love the destilj colors. one thing for sure UK has the most beautiful colored vacuum cleaners I find. Seamus Thanks also for your offer and I will take You up on it when I run out.

Thanks Again Skip...

Seamus...

Good point about dysons...they may be future collectibles...lousy vacs but future collectibles! The ones her in the US are just dreadful. They do have some interesting colors though...too bad color does not clean carpet!LOL!!

Dysons

To Me each vacuum has it's own thing and I have a variety in my collection and I have to say there is not one vacuum cleaner that doesn't clean they ALL do. but It's a persom peferernce which one he likes the most or best whatever. I have to truly say that with my Dc02 I'm very impressed with it's cleaning ability and no it's not a Hoover or a basgged vacuum but it does just as good of a job of any bagged or hoover vacuum this is my opinion.

Speaking of Hoovers I have both the New Constellion and the New Z700 bagless which I truly love both vacuums as to me they do a great job of cleaning. I have heard some people claim that they don't do a good job as a canister but mine sure does.

I agree Skip, every vacuum is great out there to someone. Being a washer guy as well, I'm an 'equal brand' person and don't prefer one over the other...I just happen to have more Hoover vacuums and GE washers than other brands. While some of us may prefer Maytag over Frigidaire or vice-versa, we don't necessarily bash other brands or strongly support one. It doesn't make any difference in the long run...they're all great.

I have to say that the Dyson has to be the BEST bagless vacuum to date, though, no others even come close although there have been some good copies lately. Those 5127 prototypes really paid off with the Dual Cyclone design, and each subsequent design has been a great improvement. I will say the DC18 Slim sounds nice, and I can't wait to play with one this summer. Who knows, I may get one of those for myself as well. What I'm really curious about though is how, a couple of years down the road, it will fare as far as competition with the Oreck is concerned. The XL Ultra and XL21 are $549.95 and $749.95, respectively, and I'm trying to remember if the DC18 was the same price as the XL Ultra. Might be a tiny bit more, however I do know it's less than the XL21.

The Dyson I'm really looking forward to, though, is the DC21 Stowaway with the electric Motorhead. It will be released to special independent dealers on March 19, 3 months before its official release in June. I saw some pictures of it, and it's a fine machine. Apparently it is the same aggressive brushroll and nozzle that the DC17 uses, which would be an awesome cleaner. I can't wait!

Speaking of the Hoover Z, I saw the Z400 at Home Depot for $99, and I'm really tempted to pick one up. To me it doesn't matter how heavy it is or if the self-cleaning filter doesn't work for fine dust. It just sounds cool, and it's definitely a future collectors item. I don't think I would have much trouble with it as I don't abuse a machine like most average users would. Of course, seeing as how I'm using a Kirby Ultimate G, anything even slightly lighter than that would be an improvement, LOL.

We've had plenty of situations where someone has found a certain brand of washer that one of us doesn't particularly care for, but we congratulate them anyway because it's a machine they happen to like. It's just the right thing to do!

Wow...can't you just feel the love in this thread...no one can say anything against a dyson......some things never change!LOL!

--Tom

I noticed the DC21 and the DC18 Slim are already on sale here in Canada in last weeks newspaper flyers. Funny they got them here so fast seeing as they only started selling Dysons here last year or so.

Tom

You voiced your opinion I voiced mine pure and simple nothing wrong with your opinions. You like hoovers and I like them all no matter what brand there are. You don't like Dysons and I do.
Everybody is intitled to there opinion.

I purchased a Maytag stacking Neptune in 1999. Great machine!!! Washed well, and the dryer capacity was fantastic. The only problem I had was the lack of window on the washer:( However, I purchased a door with a window for the dryer...this was great! Before I sold my house, on occasion I noticed during the rinse wash cycle the washer will try to spin with a tub full of water......I guess in time the motor will burn out...

Bob

I bought mine new in 1997 when they first came out mine was first of the first ones as the number was a low number, I really loved how well it clean the clothes but I really believe mine was a lemon as not even after having it 2 weeks it had to go in for a fautly weather board i think but it seems like at least once a month it was in for some kind of repair, maybe the tech wasn't doing a good job of repairing because i know a year after I had it and it was still in the shop more then home Maytag contacted me and asked me if I would mind if there sent another tech to work on it and I agreed and the new tech said that the previously one even had some wires crossed and he was so suprised it would even run. I can't remember where I heard but before 1997 maytag sold out and another company took over can't remember the name but everyone said that's when Maytag started going down but I have another Maytag performa that's 2 years old and not the least bid of trouble with it and that's what makes me think that my neptune washer was a lemon.

I still have the matching neptune dryer in my building it's free to who ever wants it I'm in louisiana

I purchased a door with a window for the dryer

Bob,
