I had earlier written about it not shutting off. Before I could get that resolved it stopped heating. It never chimed and I've been told that the heating element burned out because it never shut off. Any comments before I go purchase a new dryer would be greatly appreciated.

Continuity!

Get yourself a multimeter or a test light to test things to determine if they have continuity (does it make a circuit?). Remove the back and start testing the thermostats and the leads to the heating element. At rest, everything should have continuity.

I love my HoH dryers. They are my favorite performers, with the Whirlpool 29" dryer as a second choice.

This should be easy,
Dave

HOH advice

I could use some help with my mom's HOH. The lint filter just slides off the spindle in the back. That spindle has a ridge that I assume held some kind of gasket to hold the filter in place - if so, that gasket has gone missing. I can buy replacement filters online but am not convinced that is the problem. Any suggestions?

spring around filter

There should be a coiled round spring that fits around the filter's short tube. Maybe it's on that spindle in the drum? Lost? It ain't rocket science, you can probably get some sort of spring at Home Depot

HOH filter

Thanks for your advice and especially the pic - now I know what to look for! I had been trying to fit some type of gasket thing on the spindle itself.

I've seen parts for sale for the lint filter. I'm out of town now but will try to remember where I saw it. Also re continuity I will ck that when I get home. What do I do about the unit not chiming and stopping?
