Yeah the new ones are so compact. Ours is original to the house 1958 and about the size of a FL washer/dryer set on pedestals. But it works great so I'm not tampering with it.

We have one on the wall its no bigger than a single wall cupboard and that heats the house and the hot water on demand its great how much less space they take up

just moving them safely out of the way and the washer needs a timer rebuild, off to MTS.
mistereric - it replaces a 40 year old Weil-Mclane oil fired beast which was never installed properly for Steam. And now with the Elephant oil tank gone I can expand my work area for machines YAY!

Is it oil fired or gas? I'm about to buy a new one. OUCH! 6500 dollars for something I need but won't get a hell of a lot of enjoyment out of. Makes me feel almost Puritan.

I have a TeleDyne Laars installed in my house....its very small...about 20x20x20 square......and does a super efficient job, my gas bill is never above 100.00 during the winter, and my heat is set on 76 degrees.....
check for available rebates from the gas company and your state....also a tax write off if available in your state
I know they went up in price for some models......but I got a boiler heater, a water heater, taps installed for the stove, dryers and grill, all piping and labor, and Gas installed from the street for 2200.00....but then again this was 1993......
the Gas company financed me for 3% interest.....50.00 payment per month....

Gas or oil? If gas, you will have room for another washer - or three Ironrites stacked, where the oil tank was!
Put a relay in the spin circuit of that newly rebuilt timer to keep the deadly electrical draw out of that timer. My control tower needs the same exact thing and I have a nice relay all ready to go...
