Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Wooo!!! Looking good Jamie! Looks like you've had plenty of fun; wish I had a laundry like that then perhaps I'd have room for a toploader and a 30lb Speed Queen Loadstar!!

By the time I finish, I will have used 20 inlet hoses and 16

Jamie,

Since you can solvent-solder plastic pipe, what about doing the water-supply side with PVC pipe (in the same manner)?

If it makes you nervous to DIY you could always cut the water off with some good ball valves to relieve the pressure on the piping.

WOOHOO! Congratulations on the awesome new setup you have there...looks very flexible as far as adding more machines! Can't wait to see that 1-18 up and running! Are you going to do a "lineup" along the wall? ;-)

I wouldn't worry about the suds backing up too much...happens here occasionally as well. Strangely enough, it's been happening less frequently than it did when I ran my first load down there. Will probably be the same way for you.

Toggle, we ran PVC for the hot and cold supply lines down there, and while it's great for permanent connections, it has very limited flexibility. That and the narrow-diameter standpipes are two reasons why I can only have 1 machine per hookup. I still have one machine per hookup now, but when there are more, it will mean a lot of "rotation"! LOL

Cool Dad

Hey Pulser,
Super Job. I broke up a two holer sink and it was a lot of work and the dust and grit was endless.
I am really impressed at your dad's willingness to help and support you in the everchanging and never ending life of a collector.
Thank you for sharing.
Kelly

Hi Jamie, wow that looks just great, I remember doing that kind of work in two houses, your dad sure is nice to help you! How many hookups do you now have?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!!! I'll be able to have 8 machines hooked up right now, but perhaps with a little magic of my own I'll be able to get another machine in. Both my parents are absolutely wonderful when it comes to getting, repairing, and setting up my machines. My mom is nice enough to be allow me to have them in her house as well as be careful not to scratch them, use heavy chemicals in them and not to overload them when she uses them. My dad is kind enough to help me transport them and fix them up! We are gonna give my 1-18 a paint job soon to get rid of all the rust spots, perhaps give it a little WD-40 Lithium here and there, and get it running right again!

On another note, an appliance repairmen came to fix both our refrigerator and our Whirlpool dryer. When he saw my collection and asked me about them and I explained my obsession, I was offered at job at MasterTech!!!! (local repair shop) He said that they would take me around and teach me how all the different machines worked and how to take them apart and put them back together. He aslo said that he would glady keep an eye out for older machines to give to me a call if he found one of interest as he quite often sees old Maytags, GEs, Whirlpools, Kenmores, and even GM Frigiaires!!!! YAY!!!
