I just recently traded my 2007 Honda CRV in. It was a nice car, but just not big enough to haul, or to carry. Well I've been looking at other vehicles to purchase that could handle all that. I still wanted something that I could fit people in as well if need be. Well on Thursday I found this and bought it. Its a 2008 Ford E350. Its a little larger than what I was looking for, but it will work. It currently has 3 rows of seats in the back, but I'm planning on removing two of the rows so it can fit any appliance or tv that I may come across. It has a 5.4 V8.

Wow, that is a big one! I'd need a rear-view camera to back up something like that. Since it is the E350, you should be able to tow with it, too, correct?

Yes, I just need to have a hitch installed on it, since it currently does not. I have no issues with backing it up, but eventually I'm going to replace the indash stereo and install one that has navigation, sirius radio, and the backup camera. Will also help when towing trailers.

Beautiful Ride

This vehicle handles just like a Marquis or Town Car. It is dependable and easy to work on. I know you'll have years of good service and memories heading anywhere you choose. Sadly it opens a whole new world of collecting, buying and selling. Maybe you can get a contract for client transport to augment your income. Its a very handsome vehicle, one you deserve.

It was nice to ride in the new "bus" when we went to lunch, then hit up all those thrift stores for "dessert".   

   It rode better than I thought it would for a 1 ton van, plus the A/C blows nice and cold for all the seats!

 

It was great seeing you, Steve, Nate & Roger again!

That is a nice 1 ton van. The truck side calls a 1500 or 150 a half ton capacity, 2 is 3/4 ton and 3 is your big boy 1 ton that is capable of can carry just about anything.

with all kinds of gorgeous vintage appliances! I also have to compliment you on something I noticed in your picture. A BIG thumbs up from me on keeping your vintage steel casement windows in your house! People fuss about the energy inefficiency but aesthetically they are so much better looking than the thick, clunky, white vinyl replacements people too often rip these out for and the originals will outlast the new ones several times over. Replacements usually ruin the look of the home because the windows are so much a part of the design fabric of the house. The thin frames also let in so much more light into the room. Again congrats on the new "hauler" and for the great vintage windows!

A commercial type light van like that has all of the utility of a pickup truck (I'm guessing it can haul 4x8 plywood panels) with the extra bonus of protection of the contents from the elements and security from pilfering. Of course, you wouldn't want to haul a load of fresh manure in it but I'm guessing that isn't a daily concern... LOL...

VW did make a Panel Van back in the day. Hollowed out bus with no windows.

They did have single and double cab trucks, too. They were essentially busses from the front row up, and a truck on the back.

1952Crestwood: I am planning on keeping the original windows in the house. I agree with you, in that the new ones takes away from the house. There are several houses on this block that has updated the windows, and I think it looks ugly.

sudsmaster: I envy you. I like your van. If I would have had the extra cash and didn't have to trade in a vehicle, I probably would have gone with a vintage Ford van. The second generation from 1969 to 1974. Something like the van in the pic, a 1974 Ford Econoline that we had when I was a child. I am the young blonde on the horse, with a good friend of the family. This pic was probably taken around 1986 or 1987.
