Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Mike,

That is a very nice washer and dryer set. I love the latest Whirlpool design. Pretty machines. Like the agitator too you put in the washer.

Steve,

Europeans are not exactly obsessed with spinspeeds, it's the manufacturers that are. But what I do like about European washers is that we get the spinspeed in rpms and not in "fast" or "slow". Also I like having the exact temperatures on the control panel. I know that is not possible with the traditional American toploader, but I never understood why Miele "dumbed down" the control panels on their latest American models.

BTW: As I said in another thread Hyacinth's sister Rose was going back to being a virgin, so it's possible to be a "Miss" again! LOL

Gas

The reason I have an electric dryer is because I prefer it. I was toying with the idea of running the gasline to the dryer but gas isnt that cheap anymore. If in time gas comes down in price... and we pay about 1.64 a therm so some of my gas bills are up there. The last one was 174 bucks. My electric was 49 bucks. So you can see why I dont have a gas dryer.

Europeans are not exactly obsessed with spinspeeds,

Understood. I was being controversial. IMAGINE?

I hear from the UK that long cycle times (wash times) are for the benefit of ratings, not the users' choice!

Regarding Rose: DAMN it CAN grow back?

Your Washer and dryer is Beautiful!!!!

These things are beautiful, and reliable!!! I have a freind of mine that I helped her pic out a TL Whirpool and has never had a day of trouble with them. They get used every day!! You will love them, I know that I do!! Ritchie:)

Hi Ritchie, i have the sister machine to this wp washer, a Kenmore 90 series. No trouble in the 3 yrs we have had it. If it is anything like the last WP washer we had, should go over 15 years easily.

One thing i have learned though with DD units is that a 3 speed motor is a must. Have no complaints about this new washer. Solid workhorses.

I am looking at a Whirlpool Gold pair to replace my ailing Kenmore 80 series w/d (models 26842 and 76812). Models I am considering are washers GST9679 or GSX9750 and dryer GSQ9800. Very interested in your decision to replace the agitator on your new washer, as I have read some reviews that these new WP TL machines can be hard on clothes (despite good gentleness rating in CR). If I wanted to do this, would it negate the manufacturer's warranty on the washer? Also, would I call an appliance repairperson to do it, since no one in this household is appliance saavy? Would appreciate your opinions.
