Well I got most of the junky boxes out of the way, my old 50's sofa and two 50's swivel chairs ready for swivelin. My stereo hooked up and our Xmas gift to ourselves,, actually I bought it this morning..an LCD tv..but no stand. Quick thinking had me rushing over to moms basement for her old 50's coffee table..Whew it fits the tv perfect and my receiver and cd changer fit perfectly on the lower shelf like they were custom made. Now I just have to come up with something for the record player.

...and that coffee table looks timeless! all that open space and cd's and records... i'd turn the volume up to ten and have my own personal dance-a-thon!

Great couch and chairs, Pete! TWO turntables, even. I am also having trouble finding a spot for my turntable. There's no place to put it with my current configuration. It's in my guest bedroom closet; I pull it out if I have to record an album or something. I miss it.

It's sure looking great . . . I can imagine it with a Noguchi coffee table right in front of that sofa! I also really like the Ericofon in that deep green/grey. I have 'em in red, beige (sandalwood), light green, cream, off-white, and of course pank, but no deep grey!

I'm on the search now for a coffee table and keeping my fingers crossed something right will turn up at one of the thrift stores cheap!! The cable isn't due to be hooked up till Thursday so I ran to Walmart to pick up a cheap DVD player, couldn't wait to try out the tv, so far so good, it took me about 1/2 hr to figure out how to make the thing play and get it showing on the tv so we're watching DVD's tonight. Funny how things happen, when I got the tv setup I was thinking to myself..if only I had an old console set to gut and put this in.. I go upstairs look out the window and my next door neighbors have their old console set at the curb for trash pickup tomorrow..but I looked at it and it wasn't the right one, too new, a Hitachi late 80's model. The stuff I have hanging on the wall was just put there because the previous owners left hooks there.. I still have to energize my decorators gene and get it all looking right LOL

Yup, an old console TV/Stereo cabinet would be just the thing . . . about 8' long and it should swollow both the TV and turntable. I'd recommend an nice starburst pattern wall clock to spruce up the walls a bit too!

Fab Pete!

It's really coming together Pete! I adore that sofa set! Will you be changing the colour of the walls? This will most certainly be a place to "groove" to some of those vintage 40's and 50's tunes that we have been discussing!

Keep us posted with pics!

P.S. Did they ever douse that Imperial Oil Refinery fire in Sarnia?

Yes Venus, they doused the fire. As you see I changed my location to the Chemical Valley which is actually the generic name for this area..all the major refineries are here, plus Dow, Dupont, Ethyl, Cabot Carbon, quite a toxic mix but it's all south of the city and the wind blows mainly from the north as does the river.. Detroit and Windsor get more of the perfumery.

I've got color sample chips but can't decide what? I was thinking a turquoise but it might not go well with green

Glad to see they got the refinery under control, but Chemical Valley? OMG You do have filtered water, don't you? ;-)

As far as a paint colour, perhaps a lighter shade of that fab green on the sofa unit.
