I have a washer that has been out of service for almost five months now, it developed a bad leak which turned out to be a ripped hose. Normally that's not an issue, but imagine trying to retro fit this particular hose, NOT!. Well good news, my favorite recycler just pulled in one of these machines so I went down and stripped it for parts before it went to the crusher. Got quite a few good parts that will help me keep the machine running for a while I hope.

Anyone care to guess what hose this is from and what it does?

Re: My Hose Guess Would Be:

Your Bendix Duomatic Washer/Dryer and the Hose Part is the Top-Center Detergent opening Dispenser/Flumb, it that would basically be called.

If not the Duomatic, than maybe just a Bendix Washer, of the same reason for the Hose...

My quess would be the Whirlpool combo! If so I am so happy that you have some useable parts! YAY Terry

By its size, I'm guessing it has more to do with draining than with filling. By the angle of the elbow and the hose's flatness it suggests that it's at the very bottom of the machine or possibly right underneatht he cabinet top. My guess: is this a conduit, on an old front-loading system, that leads to a clean-out trap? I don't remember seeing one on the Whirlpool Combo but I'm pretty sure the Bendix had one.

Oh ... that's from your Whirlpool Combo, isn't it?

I think this is the part I commented about you trying to find a new one. Sarcastic Sally said, "Right, Geoff, I'll just run down to the store and get one!" :-)

You guys who said it was the '58 Whirlpool Combo are correct! And Mike got the part right, its the tub to pump hose for the Jet-Spray recirculation system.

Now this is going to be a monster to replace, but I'll take pictures and post the progress along the way. Practically the entire machine has to come apart to replace this one hose.

Hi Robert,

I remember you telling me about this problem; good luck! Hopefully it won't be as much trouble as it seems and you'll be on the fast track to enjoying that Jet-Stream washing again! Did the hose become ripped with age or was it a result of a severly OOB spin?

I though it might be a large hose that comes from the detergent dispenser down to the drum. Maytag Neptune has a large hose that does that and maybe if you can't find that exact hose a Neptune hose might work. I would also say take to an auto parts store and see if you can't find a radiator hose close to it.
