Quote: As for my "sign", I'm a Virgo. Don't think it has anything to do with my obsession...LOL.

uhmmm dear, sweet innocent Austin. WAKE UP! LOL. Virgo is the sign of the virgin, Virgins as knows for purity and being "clean". Virgos love order and perfection.

Repeat after your dear old pal Toggle.."There is no such thing as perfection." (Man's only perfeciton lies in his imperfection..that is called character!)

Did it not occur to you that both machines involed with your hobbies, (washers and vacuums) are built to .... HELLO... clean?

It's ok..... I understand. I'm a Virgo/Libra with a Scorpio rising. Meaning I am a driven and unrelenting (Sorpionic) clean-freak (Virgoan). The Libra makes me hugely dizzy and flirtatious, and in theory potentially bi-coastal.

Virgo= female
Socrpio=Male
Libra = melding the two together by marriage.

So in theory my personality and mentality is herm-aphroditic and I CAN go F--K myself (at least mentally). LOL

Past Lives

One thought I have as to why some people anyway have the automatic appliance obsession is because of many harsh past lives where everything had to be done manually. To have automatic appliances now is like magic!

Acutally, I just wanted to post something in this thread so there would be another filter-flo background LOL

I"m a water sign too (cancer).

I apprently got hoooked with our 1948 or 1949 Bendix. I was told even b4 I learned to walk, I'd manage to crawl out to the grage and watch it and to mom's dismay, I usually opened the door while it was runing. Water all down the driveway. The door to the garage was from my bedroom (which was actually a small paneled den) Maybe that's why I love the look of wood evn today.

I'm still not quite sure how I managed to get the door open, maybe after I learned to walk, which wasn't until 18 months--which explains the 1955/56 GE without FF.

The innuendo and multiple entendre in this thread

is hip deep and rising rapidly.

Who cares? I have my washer, dryer, and dishwasher.

I'd still be deeply interested in household equipment if I didn't have the internet and a delightfully odd bunch I know now.

July 11, 1960. Cancer/Rat. Would that be a crab with whiskers and a tail, or a rat with a shell?

Steve, I knew the minit I posted my comment, you'd pull out that sentence. Glad you restrained yourself. I alsmost put in parenthesis (watch it Steve).

I'm no water sign, so what's my excuse????

I'm a Taurus! Broad footed and can't stick cabbage! So how did I get this fixation with washers?

For a lot of folks it's really simple: when you were a little kid, washday was a time of domestic tranquility and familiar routine. And kids like rhythmic sounds; reminds 'em of a human heartbeat. And there's warm water around, and clean smells, and that links up with the warm water in the bath tub and the smell of your sheets and blankets as you drift off to sleep.... in short, lots of warm fuzzy associations. To that add a fascination with all things mechanical (typical for boys, and lately more so for girls also), and there you have it. And then, add the current fashion for mid-20th-century artifacts, and the tendency of hobbyists in any field to have collections of whatever kind, and that's the rest of it right there.

So if anyone tells you you're crazy: no more so than a guy who's into antique automobiles and has a couple around and has spent time restoring them. Diversity is good, makes life interesting.

Speaking of astrology making me hugely dizzy.
Just realized that the wallpaper backgrounds "follow" each member. Apparently there is a mysterious but good little fairy in the background assigning these things to us.. HMMMM...LOL

I really thought they were random at first. But if you notice, some newer members have yet to be assigned one.

EUREKA, eh? LOL

Bob, If I ever get an offical invite from Glen, or the Wilders or yourself.. I will get a car and pick you up and we'll trek through Texas. (If do-able!)

Y'all are invited to me by the way....but you knew that!

Now there is my next project tri-angulate the Texas triangle (like the Bermuda triangle).
