Steve:

Yep, everyone can pick their fav background for their postings. I'd like to see a different thread for each background started sometime!

Texas Triangle

Anybody who wants to swing through for a visit, preferably with a Frigidaire tool kit (ha!) -- is surely welcome, but advance notice is required so preparations can be made (namely, me being somewhere other than work).

Per Mapquest, the long leg is about 3.75 hours (a bit less in actuality).

Lake Jackson is from where my DD603, IWL12 and DEGX1 came.

Travel Through Texas

Ok. I've got it. Toggle and Pete (and anyone else from around the world who wants to come to Texas) - y'all can fly into Dallas (DFW). I will drive to Dallas to pick everyone up from the airport, and then we can drive to Temple, pick up Bob, and then go to either Bellville or El Campo! Doesn't that sound like an awesome trip? I'd invite eveyrone to Lubbock, but I don't have any cool machines yet! LOL. I even have a BIG PICKUP so we can bring back any vintage appliances we find at estate sales along the way.

Now that we have that settled, when's the date? : )

Texas Trip - Formal Plans

Ok Toggle. I'm serious here. Keep in mind that I didn't get to go to the Convention, so this will be fun. You guys will get to meet the cool new member from the Texas contingent! LOL.

So, here we go. Per your previous post, we need four things to make this happen:

1. Money
2. Time
3. Invite
4. Secure Plans

As far as the Money and Time are concerned, each person will have to figure that part out for themselves. However, I believe that if we solidify #3 and #4, then it will make it easier for everyone to plan for #1 and #2.

So, as the newest member of the Texas contingent (and the new kid on the block), I will nominate myself to take care of #4. I can help arrange flights, travel arrangements, meeting times, meals, etc. That said, if you guys are REALLY SERIOUS about doing this, then I will put item #3 up before the Board for nominations (self-nominations are welcome and HIGHLY DESIRED)! LOL.

So, who's in?

Count me in! But I'll probably need to straighten out the shed a little bit first (and DEFINITELY do some cleaning/vacuuming)!

Bryan count me in. I need to take more days off. As my motto is, "have chauffer will travel". Bob Wow the Texas contingent is fusing.

Taurus Here!

Mine has alwasy been dishwashers, and for as long as I can remember. When I was very young I used to push a chair up to my Mom's Youngstown Dishwasher I would start it and then crawl up on top to watch it through the window. My Mom was always yelling at me because she was afraid I would burn myself. The tops got pretty warm as I recall and when it was finished it would pop open to let the steam escape. She was also afraid I'd fall in I guess.

When we left New York and moved to Wisconsin (that's a whole story in itself), we had our first KitchenAid and I remember trying to figure out how to jimmy the switch with a knife or something to get it to start with the door open. I can remember a couple of showers courtesy of the old KitchenAid.

How nice it is to know I am not the only "freak" who is crazy about this stuff. I used to think I was some kind of nut because I liked to play with these things.
