Brian Williams announced the new Tide laundry detergent marketed toward "men" this evening. The bottle has a picture of a football player on it. It's supposed to get men more interested in laundry and washing. It has Febreze scent in it for the athletic type, I suppose.

Mr. Williams said, "The scent would knock a buzzard off a telephone pole at 500 yards." I thought I'd die laughing.

What won't this company do?
 
He said "the scent of (a used) NFL jersey would knock a buzzard.....". He wouldn't dare say that about a potential sponsor's product.

Looks silly to us, and marketers do go wrong (Edsel), but certain they have demographic surveys to back that up.
 
Stench is relative. If Mr. Williams is that offended by a football jersey he better stay out of hockey locker rooms.

What on Earth do Professinal atheletes eat to produce a odor like that ?

I certainly hope they don't wear the same Jersey more than once. Or maybe the odor is how the Jersey is washed ?

If you are in the restaurant business, you know a kitchen is dreadfully hot in the summer. None of my staff would ever knock a Buzzard off a Utility Pole even on the hottest days. LOL.

It's the polyester uniforms, not their diets. Polyester stinks in more than one way.
 
There have been several news stories this week related to this topic. It seems that more men are doing the shopping so products and packaging are being changed to appeal to them. The Barbie construction toys, still in pink, but with building equipment not only helps teach girls about spatial concepts to help improve their math & science skills, but also encourages dad to play along with her since it is more than dressing a doll so the package and product appeal to dads who are shopping for gifts. Leggo has some new line of colored blocks to appeal to girls and their dads also. Seems that more women are the higher earners in families and more dads are staying home more than before to run the house and raise the children. Also, men seem to prefer spray-type cleaners rather than stuff you have to pour into a bucket for cleaning. If you watch ads and store shelves, there are more changes coming.
