Don't make me have to get on my knees....
and beg you all to behave.

Bob, pay attention:

Koumbaro/Koumbara (also seen as goumbaro/goumbara or just "gumba").

In Greek language & culture, [and I'm SURE we *stole*
it from Italy and/ or Spain] It simply means the best man and his wife at your wedding. This person/couple traditionally baptizes your first child and is/are her/his God-parents.
This is the only way to CHOOSE family in that culture.

So it has come to mean, IMHO, that Koumbaro is family by choice, not usually related by blood. It is another way of saing my PAISANO, but usually implies a much closer relationship. Like *my *homey* or someone from the same PAISA (country) as you are.

Of course in the old days the KOUMBARO could have been you BF and true love and the wife was an arranged but seemingly necessary *evil*.

(Ducks and runs for the hills).

Of course it can be used to mean a real, ethnic old-world PITA meddling narrow-minded loud-mouthed but much beloved colorful character in the family tree.

Your choice.

Rich/Chuck:

Please feel free, of course to post those pics I sent that you that you would like to post.

Call me or write to me if you need intructions as to how to modify pics/files to post. Example: in Micosoft photo editor, go to *properties* and reduce to 100 pixels per inch. In *size* do a width of 6.00 inches for horizontal/ lanscape pics. Vertical pics around 4 inches width.

Have a good night all

Thanks for posting Steve! Rich, that Grey Ghost looks like a fun machine, and it seems very quiet.

I just have to say, though...ADD MORE WATER! Y'all really didn't fill it up with this load! ;-)

ADD MORE WATER

This was the first time I ever used this machine or any vintage washer for that matter. It was much more quiet than I had thought it would be. We had to fill it by hand with a pail (thanks cleanteamny for the grunt work help) and it was being drained to the outside "rain drain" so I didn't want it to back up due to the frozen ground. We'll try it again for the summer wash-in in July. Then I don't have to worry about the drain being frozen! I hope that you can make the summer get together!!

Rich

That would be very fun...of course we'd have to fire up the Visimatic wringer and watch the Roto-Swirl action! :)

Of course y'all definitely need to come down to Texas; I plan on doing another gathering later this year, sometime in the fall perhaps, when the '55 Maytag 101P and '77 GE Dispensall are finished!
