my 1991 maytag leaks after having already replaced the pump 4 years ago...so time to move on.

Need a new washer (top loader) which junk do I buy?

HELP!

You're asking for opinion, and I am about to give one

1991 was still a good year for Maytag.

Fix it.

Might just be a hose.

You won't get better in a modern toploader.

1991 Maytags were dependable care models and well worth fixing. The pumps rarely if ever break. Hoses and clamps do go after 15 years, and sometimes the fill flume tube. IMH Experience, the hose from the outer tub to the pump can get loose with agitation and spinning and it is best to use stainless screw drive clamps to insure tighness. The old factory clamps were tension pinch and I think they gave up the ghost early in these machines. Also put a new clamp on the hose exiting the pump to the back. Pull the front cover and watch where the water is coming from but do not put your hands under there when running, the trasmission is dangerous. The dependable care design is arguably the best design ever for a washer. I say fix it. It could last 20 more years, easy. Phil
