Need Help with Stacked Maytag Neptune

Finally after forever I get around to sorting out this Neptune with gas dryer.
So much time has intervened I have for gotten a thing or two...like this here green plastic string thing.
Where is it meant to terminate?

This is my second Neptune I have had. Both have age so well by the time I got them, this one is 15 years old but most all the components and surfaces seem so fresh.

usually its tucked under the upper access panel.....

if the machine fails in some way, or loses power, you can still pop open the door...

all Neptunes have them....

now that you mention it, I don't know of any other FLer or machine with a lid lock offering a manual release...could explain how door latches get broken...

Many WP Duets, or at least the model my aunt has (and Appnut's should also have it), have a manual release by removing the top panel and reaching down to pull a tab on the lock mechanism.

I can open the Neptune now and it’s not plugged in...so no power.
This Miele has one behind the little door on the lower left.

good to know for the future.....and hope a dryer is not stacked on top.....

but how many people don't know its there, or what its for...or learn about it AFTER they rip the door off!

Yeah, same for my Miele.  The Asko has a small slit beside the door latch...stick a thin screwdriver or knife in there and push down...door pops open.  You can barely see it in the pic.

Door Release On German WP Built FL Washers

Is more easily reached by removing the lower front panel, the release tab is on the bottom of the door lock assembly, you just pull down and the door pops open.

Aunt Rita's DD Duet (Alpha?) doesn't have a toe kick panel.
