Need to know the age of this Whirlpool dryer

Welcome to the club. Judging by the console style, I would say it is a model from between 1970 and 1972. It is a good looker.

I've got the same dryer, in Avocado. I "think" the red clips are to help you remember your favorite settings.

To get the exact age of the dryer, we'll need the serial number, which should be mounted on a data plate inside the door area.
If you'll reply back with that, I can tell you the age, down to the week of the year made. The number should begin with a letter, probably F or M.

I always thought the clips on the dial turned the heat off, also, why are dryers not made with more then one speed now?

The Whirlpool was made in Marion, Ohio, 1972, 29th week, which is early June.
The Kenmore dryer was also made in Marion, the year code is a 3, but I can tell if that's 73 or 83 without seeing the machine or the model number. 50th week, so it was made around the Holidays of December. It could have been '93 also, but washers at least already had year lettering codes, which was a 'C' that year.
The newer washer was made in Clyde, Ohio (I believe all direct drives have come from there). E = 1995, 37th week.
Give me the model number of the Kenmore dryer and I can tell you the decade if you don't already know it.

Because multiple speed drers are a gimmick, overall!

Dryers and tumbble washers tend to have one speed. That would be near 60 r.p.m., in that gravity pulls the clothing down at the same rate everywhere on earth, at nearly that speed.
Too fast and the clothing will cling to the sides with centrifugal force.
Too slow and the clothing will gather up at the bottom in a pile.
Perhaps speed varies sligthly (perhapd imperceptibly) bewteen different makes and models based on the size of the cylinder. This is less-likely due to the distance/time to fall down to the bottom, but probably more because of the time needed to travel UP!

Oh, I got the model number for the Kenmore dryer: 87584100, serial number is M35009361. I try to get its age. Also I'm looking for the push buttons on the console panel. Anyone knows where I can get them for reasonable price?
