My regular vehicle has broken down, so I will need... NO NO NO.

*AHEM*

Need for office an INEXPENSIVE electric-broom with power nozzle for rugs.

RECOMMENDATIONS?
I believe I prefer models with a bag, generally.

Gimme names, gimme linkies, gimme it ALL, baby!

What will your main use for it be??

Here are a couple to consider anyway:
If you're just looking for something to do a quickie pickup with, check out the Hoover Slider, cordless. Its got a little powered brush and does a decent job of picking crumbs off the kitchen floor. Its also OK on carpets too, and comes in really REALLY handy for getting dog hair off the couch too. You should be able to get5 a slider at Home Depot for about $30

There are very few bagged brooms today, but for a corded model check out the Hoover Flair.
Dirt Devil and Eureka also offer compact uprights in the $60-70 range that would be ok too.
What kind of machine are you replacing?

My Dear,

Finding the electric broom will be easy enough....but where, oh where, would we find an extension cord long enough????? Mark

No bag, no go.

LOL oh my. You guys are funny!

Not replacing anything. The rugs here in my office don't get vacuumed more than once or twice a month.

I simply can't have my black shoes turning gray every day (bad enough my hair is...)

So figure staples, dust, paper circles from the hole-puncher (looks at ceiling innocently) sesame-seeds from my bagel, you get the idea. Dust from nail-file, etc.

I could always go low-tech and get a carpet sweeper.....NAH,

Bag...

The only bagged machine I can think of is Simplicity's, and for the life in my I can't remember its name.
Its very pricey though....
How about a little canister like a kenmore Magic blue or something?

get a gently used Dirt Devil "broom vac" these are like a miniature version of the full size upright with a revolving brush. they clean very well and the bags are a cinch to get on eBay. David

Oreck

I have an or Oreck Electric broom that I use for quick pick ups. It is a stand up model with a beater brush or it's a hand vac. It's recharchable and pretty decent power for being cordless. Mine is an older model than the one in the link (much like myself!!). This one does not have a bag it comes apart to empty. It is a decent machine for a cordless. I had one of the shark cordless models and that was a POS compared to the Oreck.

I just bought my Mom an Electrolux Pronto at Lowes for quick pick ups on the tile and under the table in the family room which is the main meal table. It is battery operated and has a cool stand the vacuum sits on when not in use. The blue "neon blue " light is cool too, makes the perfect night light. It also has has a funky revolving brush and a larger dirt capacity. I have a Hoover slider that my mom loved simply because it did not have a cord but the dirt cup is tiny and she hates emptying vacuums anyway. "Thats for you to do when you come over" she says. I kinda have good vacuum karma. so far i have found two Miele stick vacuums here in the desert at thrift stores. They usually range in the 300.00s new but i found mine for 10 bucks and another which i gave to a friend who has alot of tile in his house for $15.00!!And they have bags! Miele K bags. They are pretty powerful and have a decent carpet/floor nozzle. That would be a great vacuum to have. But a much cheaper vacuum would be a Eureka Optima or a Dirt devil (yeah I know!) DynaVac. They are both bagless though but easy to empty. Good luck in the search! Marty

Let's just say that I'm surprised. Here you are in NYC and burbs, there must be hundreds of thrifty shops brimming, just brimming with used vacs LOL Personally I wouldn't buy anymore cordless vacs..like all cordless stuff the batteries wear down after a year or so of recharging and you have to toss em.

Would you believe I can't find a thrift store in this area?

There is a fenced-in private community called NOB HILL nearby. Methinks they lost an intitial *S*

Some of these people by me are really way too much in admiration of their own zip (postal)code.

That's ok Lexus-es, BMW's, Lincolns, Caddys NEVER get the right of way with me. ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE ON THE CELL(mobile) PHONE! LOL (Hit me, I need the money).

Sanyo Transformax

It's bagged, fairly powerful, and versatile. It doesn't have a power brush, but there is a model with a turbine-driven brush.

I've only used the non-turbine version, which worked fairly well on commercial/office carpeting. I can't comment on the tubine version.

Without turbine brush- Currently $50, including shipping, from Amazon.
With turbine brush- Currently $90

transformax!

I forgot about that one. what a great vacuum! That's the one to get. I have both versions. I prefer the non turbine but the turbine would work well on office type carpet. And bags are easily available in packages of 10 in vac shops. Get the tranformax!

What do they say, "a day late and a dollar short" I had a Dirt Devil, Stick Vac (triangle shaped nozzel) and the Broom vac (had power nozzle) I just gave them away I did not need 8 vacuums. I would have given them to you. Either one would have been perfect for your needs and I had a few extra bags for each. I know where they are now and I could bet they are not being used. I may just ask if they still have them.
