Neptune 7500 noisy spin

Our Neptune 7500 is six years old, one year out of warranty that we purchased. It has within the last few weeks gotten noisy during the spin....I think it may be a bearing noise. Now what?
Will this get worse as time goes on and maybe self-destruct?
Otherwise a good machine.

One thing these models have is heating where necessary in any cycle. Warm is 100-105. Hot is 125-130. Cold is warmed, I think to 65 degrees. I don't think you find this on any of the new brands.

Yes, it does seem it's time for spin bearings. You will have to make a decision pretty soon as further use can cause more extensive damage. You can go one of three ways. You can find a donor tub as it has been shown on a previous post. You might get lucky this way. Second is to replace the outer tub as the bearings come pressed in from the factory. Be prepared to get shafted this way as the outer tub can retail around $400-450. (You might find it cheaper on line but it's still sizable.) This is the 'official factory' repair method. Third is to replace the bearings. At our shop, we've been pretty successful pressing in new bearings into the tub. This can be done with the outer tub still in the machine but can involve a little more labor than just replacing the outer tub complete. It still can be far cheaper for you if you have a tool for seating/pressing in bearings. By the way, the bearings are factory ones. If I remember right, the inner, bigger bearing is the Dependable care spin bearing and the outer, smaller bearing is the one used for the SAV model milkstool bearing. The reason I encourage you to move on this is that the spinner support (the spin tub support that runs thru the bearings) may still be good and not scored too badly yet and be useable. (This is also not a cheap part.) keep using it and you WILL have to replace it. I've also seen them run to the point that the bearings allow the spinner to drop out of line and rub on the front tub cover, damaging both!

Seems to me we should have gotten more use out of the bearings, machine is not overloaded, there are only two in the family.

Do you use chlorine bleach in your Neptune?

Alfer, you can blame that WONDERFUL lip seal assy that Maytag used. Robert posted a thread not to long ago about a couple of duet washers he's messing around with. (Although I'll bet they've taken backseat to his Holy Grail Apex! LOL) They use almost the same seal and look at the mess he found. It's wierd. I've seen units like yours that fail this quickly yet I've seen old MAH3000's from 97 that are still going strong. It's hit or miss with this seal assy. I still recommend fixing her, tho... One of my dream sets to find is a matching MAH7500 set. I have MAH4000's as my daily drivers and would upgrade to 7500's if I could!

I do use bleach in mine which does help with mold and smells and such. I also use that Affresh that Whirlpool came out with. I'm here to tell you. That stuff really does help! My Neptune stays fresh smelling and clean!

Yes, bleach is used on some white loads, approx. twice a week, 1/4 cup each time. No mold or odor, door is left open when not in use.
Are there any front loader brands without a seal or bearing problem?
