Jason added the gas dryer components to this dryer of his this past Saturday to convert it for natural gas operation he has the matching never used washer they’re going to be installed in his new laundry room in his newly acquired home.

We put the proper 37,000 BTU modulating burner in the dryer.

He also converted to the earlier poly V-belt blower drive system with idler tensioner the set up runs the blower and a little over 2000 RPMs.

The dryer is fast, we tried a big load of towels in it in just over 24 minutes.

Changes on the 1965 lady Kenmore dryer

Hi Sean the main drive belt and pulley and idler pulley are all factory original in fact we didn’t even change the the belts 1965.

Hi Paul we may have use some parts from your dryer like the burner box and cone from converting yours from gas to electric for this dryer.

But there’s another feature that this dryer has that your 1965 dryer does not have which is not factory.

WOWZERS...

What a beautiful turquoise Kenmore dryer!
So happy to see it's never been used and going to be put to work!
What a FANTASTIC looking dryer!

Doing the HAPPY DANCE for you on this side of the computer!
WOOOOO HOOOOOO...
😃🥰

Other modification

I noticed a different kind of diffuser/deflector in the rear of the drum - it doesn't look like the regular KM/Whirlpool rear drum panel....

That’s very cool!

Did you add your signature seal job to the back of the drum?

Wouldn’t an original production of a 1965 model still have the older style door handle?

Changes On Our 1965 LKM Dryer

Hi Mark, yes you spotted the in door sprinkler, we stripped a 1964 LKM and Jason added the better in door sprinkler.

Hi Paul, I had forgotten your LKM was a late build model with the new style dryer with the larger drum. So no parts from your dryer would have been used.

Hi Melvin, not sure about the door handle I will look into to see if it is correct or not, I think it is. Jason used the inner door panel from the 64 LKM and the outer panel from this dryer, Note Jason had the repaint the cabinet of this dryer, even though it was new the finish had started to get light rust on it because of being stored in humid conditions.

Hi Anthony the thermal cut-out is the correct 205F one for this gas dryer.

The 1965 build year of the 1965 model should’ve been the only year that the Lady had the older style drum set up and door handle. It should’ve had the in door sprinkler system according to the specs.

The new style handles debuted in 1966 and the 1966 build models would’ve had the newer style bulkhead system. So maybe it’s an early 1966 build that got the newer handle but was still built with the older style drum.

I have this 1965 model dryer in copper tone and it was built in 1968 if I remember correctly so it has the newer style handle and revised drum setup. You know Sears was always doing funny stuff with their models.
