Look at this! Never used before. Beautiful interior.

How did these tower systems work? Did the top of the tower shoot up to spray the top rack? I’ve never seen one in action and it’s different than other pop up tower dishwashers from that era. I’m pretty sure it has a full arm on the roof?

Maytag standard tub jet clean dishwasher

These were made in the 90s after they got rid of the ill fated reverse rack design that customers never liked and Maytag dishwasher sales really took off thereafter with this new more convent design..

These were pretty decent dishwashers. They didn't have a ton of room in them and you still had to load around a tower and Like all tower dishwashers they didn't work very well in the corners the upper rack, you're correct they did still have a full wash arm on the top washing down over things which acted as a very good constant rinse, but didn't do anything for washing the inside of all those glasses in the top rack since they've gone to a more conventional loading design by this time.

These were made mostly in plastic tank machines, but the nicer ones like this one had a stainless steel tank. one of the biggest service problems we encountered were they were very prone to getting little plastic bits clogging all the wash arms. I'm not sure why this happened so often in these machines but a very frequent service call they would get all clogged up with bits of plastic. I think the wash arm arm holes were too small cupeled with a poor grinder design.

They had a very rugged motor assembly few problems with that but there was a massive recall on the plastic tank models because the rinse aid dispensers leaked rinse aid on the wiring and made the insulation on the wiring dissolve and could resolve in a fire which could take down a house. They didn't bother with the recall on the stainless steel tank ones because there was much less propensity for a fire, even if the wiring did short out.

At $75 in unused condition this would probably be a good dishwasher for someone to get who wants something a little bit vintage.
