Well as some of you already know my Baby Aloysius didn't make it through the winter and succumbed to kidney disease which I must say we had been fighting pretty well for 7 months. He crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully in my arms at the ides of March.
I had written the breeder to tell her what had happened and how he lived a great long life to 15. She called me back the day the letter arrived to tell me she happened to have a puppy available and would I be ready for another dog at this time.
After much soul searching and crying which I still do when I think of AL I called her back and said yes.
So Artemis came home in the ides of March and has settled in beautifully here.
We actually have puppy graduation next week and then on to intermediate dog class for the early summer!
Here are some recent photos, I think Al would be proud and I think he had something to do with the timing of it all, but thats just me.

Jon,
So sorry to hear about Al. I am happy that I was able to spend time with him a few times! He really was one of a kind.
Glad that you found Arte. Al would like him also, and is glad that you are not alone.

Jon-

So sorry about Al. No matter how long our beloved dogs and cats live, it isn't quite long enough.

Artemis, however, looks like she can keep you quite busy and entertained, however.

I went through a similar procedure when dear LJ crossed Rainbow Bridge, and Boris showed up two days later.

I wish you and Arte many happy years together.

Would you guys have gotten a dog prior to the passing of the other? I am thinking I need to. My Girlie girl is really getting old, fast. I need a backup dog, I think, but I don't know if this would be good or bad for the existing old dog.

Very sorry to hear about Al passing on. He had a very good life with you, Jon, and you brought each other so much happiness. Artimus is a cutie. Congratulations!!

Rich

Awwww Jon, Artie is just adorable, I can't wait to meet him in person. We will have to have Artie and Gladys meet someday!

Thank you everyone for your sentiments

they are appreciated!
Brent, someone else said the same thing to me, I think Al would be happy that Arte has taken over after him.

Louis, no he hasn't discovered under the covers yet, but he does love to curl up when he isn't busy exploring the world!

Gene, good eye that is a Kandinsky oil copy up there, very nice and very reasonable on ebay when you can't afford the original.

Robert , I'd love to see Gladys in the same room with Artey!!
