Well it looks like PG is at it again, apparently they reformulated cascade platinum and platinum plus action packs with "30 percent more liquid on top" and "100 percent grease removal" and of course in true PG fashion it wouldn't be complete without another "new scent" so great the excess foaming will be even worse now...... who on here wants to bet me $1,000 dollars that PG still has not fixed the excessive foaming issue with the action packs..... but yet it's more important to have a new scent! I swear this company gets on my nerves.

Oh yeah did anyone need bigger Platinum packs?
I’ve steered more of my money away from PG the last several years.
One caveat I would still buy powder Cascade regularly except the stores around me only carry it intermittently now. It’s all about the pods apparently 👎

Platinum Plus

I have a bag of the old version, though use them only with heavily soiled loads. For a majority of loads, these are absolute overkill., not to mention additional damage to racks, etc. The KA does well at avoiding suds, but I have used many machines that can’t handle the original pacs with a soiled load.

Oh I can speak to this! Just bought a tub of the mountain pacs, love them so much but they STILL HAVE NOT fixed the foaming issue. So in my Powerclean when I use them, if I run a half load or small load the dishwasher will oversuds. But when I do a full jammed packed Dan-Load it just gets slightly sudsy, not concerningly sudsy just a little, it does the same thing in my GE dishwasher…so no they don’t care that it does this. Yet they are fully aware that this problem exists, and it’s not exclusive to the PLUS variety it happens with the original platinum too. There is no way that they don’t notice this happening in their lab tests, zero chance.

The last load I did was a few nights ago and it was a little more than a half load, so not full, and the whirlpool oversudsed, it was about to pour out of the door I had to put some gas tablets in to reduce the sudsing cause it was worrisome. This should not happen with an expensive top of the line product and I will be complaining again and getting more coupons probably cause that’s all they do, instead of actually correcting the reported problem which has been reported year after year time after time.

I wish the mountain scent was available in the powder form, or at least the complete pacs form. The complete pacs don’t oversuds in my water.

And also too I don’t know why they say new and improved, it’s the same ingredients as before unless they adjusted the amounts. They advertise on the mountain scent that it has “THE POWER OF BLEACH” when ALL of the Plus pacs regardless of which scent all have oxygen bleach in them, their trying to make it seem like oxi is exclusive to the mountain scent when it’s not. Their advertising is a little cheesy. There is nothing on the website talking about scent? They are all the same as they were a year ago. That mountain scent is spot on though they nailed it, it’s the best smelling dishwasher detergent I’ve ever inhaled

I had been using Cascade pods for 25 years and had to give them up due to the oversudsing. My dishwasher arms needed to be soaked in ammonia to get rid of the residue from the plastics and suds and after a whole Sunday of soaking my dishwasher finally cleaned the dishes like I had a dishwasher again. When I use pods I use Finish Ultimate and everyday I use Cascade or Premiere powder.

Maytaga806 thanks for the warning before i went out and bought and tried the new version myself, i figured it would be a waste of money, it literally is making me enraged, i just don't understand how a company can just get away with making a defective product for so many years, and they literally refuse to fix the problem when there's many many many well documented cases of oversudsing, in some cases people had to tear thier floors out from damage due to the machines leaking from suds, how is it even possible nobody has sued them yet???? I seriously have been considering filing some kind of lawsuit against PG, would anyone go in with me on a lawsuit? Maybe a class action lawsuit?? I have contacted cascade for YEARS and i always get the typical response of "your waters not hot enough" or "your dishwasher may not be level" the how the heck does a dishwasher being level have anything to do with your product sudsing??? If the problem is my machine then why is it that i use every other detergent on gods green earth and have NO foaming, heck even cascades own powder or gel produce zero foaming. This issue has been bugging me for at least a decade.

I used to use the Cascade Complete pods, I don't anymore as the Kirkland pods don't create excessive suds. Other than that, I really loved the smell of them especially the Platinum. But now I have found that the powder works better where I think I'm going to discontinue using pods all together in my dishwasher. I'd like to give the liquid another shot, the citrus and lemon scent intrigues me.

Egress, it is everywhere in my area wallmart meijer kroger, before covid it was impossible to get, the powder sells like crazy now while the pods are sitting on the shelf, i checked my stires pods and most were dated from 2 to 3 years ago so that tells me not many are buying the pods,i ordered a box off amazon, check amazon, amazon has it for $6 a box, it amazes me that cascade platinum plus is $20 or more for 60 pods and is pretty much an ultra premium luxury dish detergent and they monopolize the shelves yet their customer service and research & development/quality control SUCKS! You'd think from a premium product you'd expect better..... it works very well but of course i can't use it.

Once the cascade powder is dissolved into the wash water it’s pretty much no longer fragrant. I never smelled it at all coming out of the vent. It works really well. My parents have been using the gel for years and their glasses are really cloudy and white, and yes, rinse aid is always being used. I told them to switch to powder and to give all those glasses a vinegar rinse, and I set their rinse aid dispenser to max since they do have bad well water. They have a six year old Maytag and even there in their hard water the Cascade Platinum pacs completely oversuds that dishwasher easily when I’ve come over and tried some of mine in it.

I just did a full load last night in my dishwasher with the mountain PLUS pac and it didn’t oversuds whatsoever. But had I done a half load I know it would have because it seems when the jets have no dishes to blast the streams splash down on the standing wash water more forcefully creating more sudsing and much faster.

I was a loyal Cascade consumer since I had my first apartment in Fall 1977 for powder, gel, and pods. I didn't notice any foam issues hampering performance in the GSD1200 Potscrubber. But after the 2006 Kenmore Elite as well as the replacement with the 2015 Kenmore Elite I could tell at times foam was greatly hindering scrubbing of dishware in both Kenmore Elites but just put up with it. I think some of the excess foam residue hindered the 2006 Kenmore Elite performance and I even ran a few dishwasher cleaners in the 2006 but not improvement. And in frustration of reduced performance I replaced the 2006 with the 2015 Kenmore Elite. Still foam issues, but put up with it. Then the 2015's electronic failure during the Pandemic lead to the replacemt with the Bosch 800 in May 2021 and tried Finish free sammples in the Bosch and became a loyal Finish customer and will continue to be. Now I will admit, I've continued to use Cascade Complete powder or Gel in the Bosch for prewash segment of the cycle as appropriate, which in BobLoad situation is usually needed. I also personally admit I think the Finish products result in better cl3eaning performance, but it also may be the far superior cleaning results of the Bosch also.

I love finish too, I just don’t like the scents. They used to have really nice smelling products like ten plus years ago but I’m not a fan of it anymore since they’ve changed things and also have launched brand new pacs and whatnot but their detergents work just as well as cascade no question about it I’ve tried all of them and they work very well besides the lower grade pacs which didn’t work well in very hard city water I used to have. They don’t even carry any lemon scented products anymore which I feel if your making dishwasher detergent you MUST have a lemon scented variety come on. I’m a fool for scents and having a dishwasher that smells so good after the cycle, which is why I stopped using the powder there is no scent left behind and sometimes there is a odor from the food soils left on the dishes after the cycle which is not pleasant as I let dishes sit for a day or two with no pre rinsing or rinse and hold. The rinse and hold completely washes the dishes in mine so it’s kinda senseless I use it once in a blue moon.
