New Bosch Front Load Washer

I have heard almost nothing of the Bosch brand on these boards regarding their washer product.
Interestingly the washer pictured, a series 300, runs on a 240v plug.
Because of that I might buy one with a sizable discount, as the current owner was unaware of the voltage requirement and doesn't want to wire up the 240 connection...must have a gas dryer.
Any who, what's to know?
2.2 cubic ft drum seems to be our average load size. Compact, German engineering, yada yada...
Anyone out there run the Bosch/Siemens brand?

Good quality for the price, no fuss, pleasing performance

Running a Bosch lower MOL washer ( ~ 5 years ) and dishwasher ( ~ 4 years ). Would buy again unless something else really stood out and took my fancy. Perhaps next time would go higher MOL - TOL. Bought LG condenser dryer ~ 18 months ago, adequate performance but feels like all fizz and no substance some how but now would buy Bosch heat pump instead. Electricity bills have increased noticeably after old vented dryer. Of everyday brands they would be my go to.

Years ago, and I mean over a decade, Bosch machines were in many stores. They had a distinctive control panel and dispenser compartment mounted on the front edge of the machine top. I remember complaints that they did not handle suds well, but that was in the early days of HE detergents so if you stuck to a product like Rosalie's Zero Suds, you would not have that problem, unless the machines had the problems of the Whirlpool Duet-type washers which ramped up to spin speed too rapidly for the pump to be able to carry away the water so the machine's flood switch was tripped by the pressure of the water surging between the inner and outer tubs. The machine would then stupidly totally stop instead of slowing to a distribution speed which would hold the balanced load in place like the Speed Queen does. New motor speed controller technology has probably done a lot to eliminate the problem, too.

It's good to know that there are 240 volt machines still available. Thanks for sharing the information. Be sure to let us know the model number and how you like it if you get it.

Yeah, I've looked at a Bosch machine at Lowes recently and noticed it was 240V.  I am glad too.  The only ones I'm aware of are the Miele Little Giant, Asko, Blomberg, and Bosch.  Love having a washer that can heat up and keep it up all the way through the cycle.

Good luck with that then! European machines have a growing tendency to either: (a) never reach the claimed temperature of, say, 60 deg C;
or
(b) reach 60 deg C, then allow a long slow cooling phase.

Anyway, good results seem to be achievable at 40 deg C, provided a good powder detergent is used, and adequately dosed.

Here's my Bosch Nexxt models. I purchased them new in 2009 and they have been going strong ever since.

Don't know what I'd replace them with when they finally go.

Those red units look nice. I have only scene white before.
Is that how they came or do you customize them yourself?

As you see them is exactly as them came from Bosch.
I purchased them in February 2009 from a dealer outside of Boston Mass.

Back then Bosch tried to do something different than the typical White.They made a two-tone Red & White like mine as well as a Blue & White model.

The colored models never really caught on so they only did them one year. Seems the typical Bosch owner didn't want or need any "flash" in the Laundry room.

I purchased the matching pedestals a couple of years later.

On a side note I reread my message and noticed I wrote 'scene' rather than 'seen'! I do this kinda thing A LOT on my iPad. Never would have made that mistake writing by hand. Perhaps it is an auto-fill guess and I miss it, I dunno.[this post was last edited: 1/25/2018-22:00]
