Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Lemme go look at the box..This is all we've used for the past 7 years as far as powder goes...Its almost like cascade..

Great Value... That it is.. Far cheaper than my jet dry power ball electro sal ($8.95 a container at sams for 100 tabs)

Erik, that is Whirlpool's AnyWhere silverware basket, so you are perfictly ifne in placing it in the rack where you have it if you so choose.

I've found...

...the Cascade packs with Dawn built in, seems to work best weather in Florida, West Virginia, or Virginia. Especially in those awful new machines (Asko, Meile, etc...) that have no washing ability anyway. Make sure you fill the rinse aid dispenser with Jet Dry. The Cascade version of that doesn't seem to work as well for me.

Dear Mrs. Van Rubypubes,

I cannot see the detail of the control panel on the pics you posted, but if there is an option for a hi-temp wash or a hi-temp rinse, select these options and see how it works.

I agree with everyone here that powders are the best, beating out liquids, gels, pastes, tablets, gelpacks and tablet/gel combos.

I am currently working off Electrolsol tabs with Power Balls, and they oversuds my WP DU8700, to the point where I have to put a thick towel under the dw door to catch the sudsy overflow. But that is here in Marietta, GA where the water is fairly soft.

If memory serves, Schenectady has quite hard water with a strong presence of sulfer.

I was born in Ellis Hospital, baptized at St John the Evangelist church, lived on Wendell Ave...

Especially in those awful new machines (Asko, Meile, etc...

Erm,, excuse me but our Miele dishwasher is the best we've ever had for cleaning... nothing awful about it at all! (And for the price I'm glad there's not too). Same goes for Bosch dishwashers... never needed to pre-rinse with a Miele or a Bosch dishwasher.

I just ran a load in my Kenmore TT and i just love it even more every time...
I also am trying the non powerball kind of electrosal tabs so we'll see

I found that Electrosol sucks pretty bad. The last box i had might have been old,..because tea and coffee mugs were not coming clean and thought that the dishwasher might be having problems.

Switched to Cascade w/shine shield and the old girl cleans like the first time it was used. WP powerclean dishwashers ROCK!

I hope to keep it running for a looong time.

Yes Bob...and the temp boost is automatic in the P&P cycle with 2 boosted washes and boosted final rinse. Though i do not really ever use P&P as most things clean very well on normal and at most Heavy wash.

Well I think If I continue to use a DW I will buy only small boxes of powder Cascade, of which I think I will store in a glass container. And use Jet Dry for rinse aid

I also think, since I keep my gas water heater basicly on Warm I would install a undercounter instant water heater to bring the water up to a usable temp BEFORE entering the DW. This way all cycles will have HOT water and it shouldn't have to spend extra time washing and heating.

Thank-you Appnut-Bob, you are right the basket does have fins allowing it to stand on edge. I always remember the Whirlpool DW baskets in the past having a slanted bottom??

Dishwasher detergent with PowerBalls in it. I don't know, that sounds like such a gamble.

PeterH- Young Man, Mrs. Van RubyPubes says it sounds like you were born on the nicer side of the tracks, but don't be getting a smart mouth with me youngster. I know your Grandmother Gretchen and she would have NONE of that. And If you come by and egg my house again and uproot my cucumber plants I will have my cousin who works for the Police dept on you. He'll give you a good thrashing with a rubber hose.

Anyway, shame on me for not posting an upclose pic of the control panel. Surely that is criminal behavior here at AW.org I mean what good is an appliance with out the control panel?

Yikes....

I wonder what side of the tracks I was born on, at St Clares..... does living in Rotterdam count for anything?? We did move to Guilderland later on, so am I socially irresponsible or just a bad seed?

Erik, I was tooling around Sears site last night. They still offer this model too, of their verison. The Kenmore version has nylon racks and also has a real sani-rinse option.

Personally, unless everything is basically totally rinsed off, I wouldn't use the "Normal" cycle. It's what used to be "Light" from several years ago of going right into the main wash. also, the high-temp wash option will turn the "purge" into a full-filled rinse, thus you'll get to real rinses after the wash. It will be a very sad day in dishwasherdom whe Whirlpool ceases making the PowerClean-based dishwashers.

Dishwashers

I use this Roper (not bought at lowes mind you, but an independant)for $249 now if i can (which is most of the time), if not i put an elchepo $188 Roper or Tappan in from Lowes (whichever they have)in..Like the lady who just called me at 11:30 pm (i never give out my cell, just my voice mail service, some how she got it)..Any who, her's broke and shes all po'd and she wants one Tonight..Asked if she'd ever thought of washing them by hand...She states she doesn't know how...Lazy B*t*c*... So she will get the el crapo Tappan and learn taht i don't pull dishwasher outta my ass...
