Interesting!
I've got some Finish Quantum tabs stashed away for when I *finally* use the last Fairy Platinum (Like Cascade Platinum packs Eugene uses, except with >30% Phosphates) some time soon. For basically 99% of loads I do, even on the "Delicates" cycle (including the "Eco" version with just a 16 minute wash) about a 4tsp dosage of the Finish Powder I buy is more than enough to guarantee great results.*
The other thing is, and I KNOW I've beaten this to death - while you do get some enzyme activity at low temperature, it really isn't worth any discussion until one gets into the "Lukewarm" temperature range, to about "Hot" (Anything to about 120°, it seems).
If I can, I either try to wash up the kitchen, items that don't get put in the dishwasher or collect the water drawn for the Main-Wash/First-Rinses in a container to put on the garden. In reality, having free hot water completely negates the cost of the water anyhow (More so, with electricity costs
continuing to rise!)
*When I do manage to get together a reasonable sized load with some nice soils, I'll get the Finish tabs out for comparison. Heck, it might even be time to do some "performance testing," by making up a batch of glue, oatmeal/honey (etc.) again
Might be time for Eugene to do the same as well, like we did back early last year!
