This looks a lot like breaking and entering.
When I bought the Atlantis, in 2002, Maytag was touting a tamper free safety interlock.
I couldn't find any way around it.
I took the top of the console off and then super glued the swith in the activated position, while the lid was closed. Voila!
I then could open and close the lid and switch didn't open since it was glued in place.
