Ive moved to a different part of town...amazing new flat but the appliances are built in - all under the Diplomat Brand. Still guess they are better than nothing...

Here is the kitchen itself

Hi Chris

Good luck in your new pad!

Thanks for the pictures. The kitchen looks really nice and I hope you can live with those appliances. I have, previously, ripped out integrated (Hotpoint badged Smeg) and replaced with standard. The kitchen looked ok, not totally butchered but not as good as when the appliances were built in.

I don't know anything about `Diplomat' - isn't it an own brand for MFI or something? That washer looks very familiar, the design of that facia has been around for about 20 years across Europe. In the UK they have previously been sold as Electra machines and as Servis, but I have no clue as to their origin. You say it's quiet - and I notice it has a simple 500/1000 spin option, these two facts would lead me to believe it might be an induction motor machine?

It's a delight to see the old UK numbering system back in use- I'd love to be able to do my towels on number 2, sheets on number 4 and clothes on number 5 like in the good old days! The temperature dial is nice too as it gives you some control over it - the alternative in that type of machine might be the dreaded, inaccurate, `timed heat'..... You mention quick cycles - fantastic - and if you do want a longer one, of course you select program 1 but leave it on 40 degrees, for example. It looks like a very useable machine, I just hope the quality is there for you. And the big question - does the cupboard door stay shut on a fast spin or does the machine shake it open?!!!

I pray the dishwasher will hold up - haven't seen an exposed heating element for a while..... based on past experience with built in dishwashers it might need treating with a gentle hand LOL. I recognise that dispener arrangement from somewhere with the circular twisty off rinse aid thing. My brain is letting me down. Is it similar to my ex Zanussi or to a very old Hotpoint Aquarius? Dunno.

Anyhow, thanks again and best of luck with the flat and the appliances.

mystery dishwasher : who knows ??

The washer is Antonio Merloni made and sold in thousands brands (Bompani, ARDO, WegaWhite in IT ; EBD, Studio in DE ; Servis in UK, Eudora in A)

Dishwasher is the same of SMEG non-orbital DW. So could say "it's a SMEG". But do SMEG made dishwashers by themselves ??
Also FRANKE DW are like that.
Even the latest talltub RENLIG "from Whirlpool for IKEA" has this -not whirlpoolish- design.
Maybe they are all Gorenje made ???

I love the machine, it reminds of olden days. Coz its a normal programmer that moves round as the cycle advances so you can keep up with the machine. It looks like a servis which i saw once when we went to look for new kitchen.
The heating element has discoloured, or does it just look like that in photo?
My dishwasher the df31 almond/cream colour, has a heating element that is not hidden like meodern machines.

Nick - thanks for your message. I think the washer has an induction motor, it is very quiet, and it makes a loud humming noise each time it is startig to tumble from a stand still. Brush motors wouldnt make that noise, I guess thats because they dont have a capacitor. The cupboard does stay shut on spin - i am surprised but it does; its a hot and cold fill machine, so the cycles will be quicker; wash performance seems to be OK as well to be fair. I agree its just like a Servis machine from that late 1990's. The dishawasher....well not so keen on that to be honest; everthing seems to have sand on it after the cycle!

Dyson - the heater is a funny colour! It was caked in limescale when i moved in, so i put salt in the container and that is the subsequent result

Dishwasher

The white chalky deposits on the element look ominous!

Try cleaning the filters, then running an Intensive Wash @ 70°C with FINISH Dishwasher Cleaner. This should cleanse the element of the chalky deposits. Continue to use salt, too.
